I helped setup an AMD event on the 15th and staffed the event on the 16th. The two systems I worked with were Bulldozer 3.4ghz engineering samples. I pulled up the system control panel to confirm the chips as 3.4ghz ES. I have mixed thoughts about it. I liked that they did 3.4ghz on the stock AMD heatsink by default. On the other hand, it was definitely ES silicon. I was getting random CTD on things while we were demoing. I did no benches on the hardware because I had no time. They were Dirt3 Eyefinity 3x1L demo rigs.

Crash to Desktop can be several things but mainly instability(Not usually the CPU) but it is an Engineer Sample CPU
If it was a BSOD then it is the CPU
I call compatibility issues

I hate that Stock Fan, I am surprised they even sell it that thing can only cool 65-90 Watts

What did the frame rate look like? and what settings?

Everything was cranked up to maximums in the settings, running them 5760x1080. No noticeable lag spikes or FPS issues with real world use in game. I believe the video cards in the rigs were 6990. The port config was two dvi and 2 mini-dp. Ran two of the projectors via dvi and the third via minidp-to dvi adapter. The rigs were connected to D-Box motion actuated racing chairs with Logitech G27 setups. I have pics and video of the rig configurations on my Canon t2i. I just finished driving Dallas-Wichita though in 6 hours so I'm a bit tired. Will update pics when I wake up later today.

Please don't and when they are released I know you will be their to put down AMD and praise Intel. It's kind of annoying actually when someone just blindly follows the leader without even giving a congratulatory nod to something different than what they have or like.

There was talk over a [H] that the video cards was HD6950 but i am sure you know what talking about as you had hands on.. if BD runs games better then my i7 930 then i may go AMD as i really don't feel as i got my moneys worth from the x58 chipet for cost of build when soon after all the cheap i7 stuff came to be.

Brad..

Parts of the setup were a mad rush. I had hands on noon-midnight Friday and 9am-7pm Saturday, but the focus was Dirt3 on them, not the hardware themselves. It might of been 6950. I never had the case open on the rigs but have photos though the case window. [H] would know because AMD supplied Monte of [H] everything for the setups for the event. This was a bit different then the other AMD events in that AMD merely supplied the hardware and [H] did a majority of the setup organization. The center of the room were the LAN tournament rigs and along the sides were all the regular AMD demo machines running games showing off hardware. XFX was showing off their triple display stand and ASUS had a couple of tables which had one of their triple-slot video cards and a benching build on a plexi Danger Den air bench. ASUS, XFX and Corsair gave away a TON of stuff at raffle. For the people that showed, there were a ton of raffle prizes.

A few have asked me why I didn't bench the systems when I had unrestricted access. It's simple, you don't burn an NDA out of mere curiosity. You do what you were there for.
