I had a rattling sound on my 780 gtx acx sc card ! I fixed it myself. All I did was tighten the screw on the botom of the card and loosen a bit the one on the top. Its perfect now, no more rattling sounds. Maybe this can help someone.

beelzebud I have a GTX 760 FTW, and I've noticed a slight rattle when the fan is spinning down from being under heavy load. It only lasts a second or two, and then stops as the fan levels off to idle speeds. I wasn't sure if I should be concerned about this, but as long as it just happens like it currently does, I'm not going to worry about it. Glad to see it's not an issue specific to my system.
Mine started out the same way as this, I believe the blocks may have been poorly fastened, in my case they got worse over time until I fixed them.

Hmm.. interesting find. it makes sense if the sink blocks are held together that way, I will have to look at this too, thanks for the info.

Near the sli conector is one screw on the plastic that holds the fans. Try that one first.

Turns out if I push on the plastic fan housing it quites down, still don't know if I'm going to RMA it if they could send one that's 4gb without the acx cooler but the reference cooler I would be happy.

Did you tighthen the screw at the bottom? If you made it quiet when going threw 1 to 100% fan speed then your on the right track. You just need to find the right balance between tightening the bottom screw and looseining the top screw in my opinion.

If someone could take a pic of all the screws they want me to mess with I would appreciate it.
I was testing it in metro last light, last night and it seems to have quieted down for the most part still some noise here and there. Other than that it's pretty quiet. I really just don't feel like screwing with removing the backplate and what not.

I had uploaded the pictures of all the screws in the first post on 2 page(current one) of this thread. You can't miss them. I have marked screws with a red circle.

Same problem here with 3 (!!!) GTX780 Classified... I hear it, i RMA'ed it Next one, same Problem - RMA agaein Next one same Problem... Now, i life with it... i dont want to change something on the cooler, and at my card, it is only at 43%/44% RPM But this is a speed that i never "use", most time it is slower (idle 35%) or faster (BF3 53%)... so i hear it only on the way up or down... As long as it is only at these speeds, it is okay for me...

Unfortunately, I don't want to pull the cooler off when I'm still within my 30 day return window. Screens didn't help. I am not hearing the rattle so much as the resonance.

Although there are some REALLY loose fins by the power connectors. Feels incredibly cheap and flimsy--almost like tin foil. This is a low budget cooler given a high budget name.

Superbxxx They will send you an acx version. The latest acx coolers should not make this noise so you will be fine. Or just try to make this fix...is up to you.
Best of luck
You sure about that? I got my 780 last week and I'm having this problem.

I'll probably be doing an RMA, but if the replacement card has the same problem I'll try the fix. Does it void EVGA's warranty to remove the heatsink?

I had this problem on a GTX 760. I thought because it was due to the tight space in my Falcon Northwest Tiki. I ended up RMAing it for the blower style. That could have been my problem as well. At one point the ACX cooler on my Titan made a buzzing sound but that was only for about a minute and I haven't heard the noise since. Thanks for the post and if I run into this problem again, I will check out the fins as well. BR deserved Super!!

How do you know if you have the new acx? Mine works perfect, although im thinking about to change paste to high quality to get temp down a couple. And y'all talking about heat tape? If i buy this, should it have some specific thickness? Edit: ok, i understand that it is no tape, i see now that the tape that followed was for aftermarket cooler. Cheers
