It is rated at speed settings of 9-9-9-24 @ 2.0v running at 2000Mhz. If you are running the RAM slower than that, you can adjust your voltage and timings accordingly. As an example, I run the exact same RAM at 1700Mhz 8-8-8-22 @ 1.60v. I am not saying that you can or cannot run yours with the exact same settings, I am using it as an example of running your RAM lower than it's certified speed and undervolting it because of the lower speeds. Once you obtain 1800Mhz at 2.0v, I would decrease the voltage incrementally until it became unstable, and then go up one to the stable voltage setting.

I was running some tests on my memory today and ran into a rather disturbing issue. I had one stick of the Patriot RAM in the first black channel slot and was using memtest86+ 4.0 and got to about 30 errors in the first minute of testing before it locked up. (Oddly I was able to boot up into windows with it not bluescreening me). Then I tested the same RAM in the first gray channel, then the 2nd black channel. Memtest passed all tests on each of those slots. So, what I've got here is a motherboard issue after all it seems. I was testing at the settings VistaHead recommended, except I turned down the FSB and MEM Mhz to 1600, tRAS at 22, memory voltage at 1.9, SPP voltage 1.4, MCP voltage 1.6. Now that I know I've got an issue with the motherboard, what is the procedure to RMA it? Assuming that's possible. I bought it on 11/25/08...

With the memtest from that link I'm running into a situation where one of the sticks is passing and the other is not, so I'm sending them back for replacement. Will update once I get new ones.

Test the stick that failed in the first gray slot.

Stray_Bullet Yeah might be a bad DIMM slot & not the memory... That's what I'm starting to think, especially after reading his comments in post # 32. If the failed stick passes in a different slot, then it probably is the board.

i am having a C1 issue also, but mine is more of a RANDOM issue, so its a bit harder to pin down. i have 6 gig (3 2gig modules) of corsair xms3 (cm3x2g1333c9) if i need to do a restart or if i turn my pc on after only being off for a little while, i get the C1 error at boot. no post. i have to turn off the psu and unplug it and drain residual puwer from the mobo before i can post. sometimes i have to do it 2-3 times, so you can see how aggrevating this can get. this has been an on going issue from the day i built this. here is some of the tech support file from the nvidia cp: and just an fyi: i First off, you should have started your own thread, and not hijacked this one. Having said that..... Is that triple channel or dual channel RAM? I have not looked it up, but if you are running 3 X 2GB, that tells me that it is probably triple channel. The 790i series board uses DDR3 dual channel memory. Can you run triple channel memory?..sort of...you will probably only be able to run two sticks (4GB) of the RAM, and the timings will not be what the manufacturer's specifications are...in other words, if you are able to get it to run and be stable, you are going to have to tweak the hell out of the board's memory settings.

Is this the 6GB kit that you have in the below link? If so, it is triple channel...look under specifications. The link that you provided gave no specs, and it is for the 4GB set. In most cases 6GB of RAM sold as a set of 3 X 2GB is going to be triple channel memory. http://www.newegg.com/Pro...S+Series%29-_-20145220

unfortunately for me, this is what i went by: "The TW3X4G1333C9 is a 4096MByte matched pair of DDR3 SDRAM DIMMs. This part delivers outstanding performance in the latest generation of dual-channel DDR3-based motherboards" now that i have successfully wasted your time, thank you for your patience and help, and i will be going back to my CAVE lol lesson learned! now, about that tweaking....

Is that your RAM in the Newegg link? The confusion is that the 4GB set is dual channel, the 6GB set is triple channel. So, did you purchase a 4GB set and a 2GB set, or one 6GB set? After you get your new RAM start a new thread and fill out a BIOS template, list all of your hardware to include RAM and model/part number. You can come back to this thread and cut and paste the BIOS template I provided the OP here in the beginning of the thread.

yes that is the ram in the newegg link. i purchased the ram from microcenter already, and now i need to figure out what to do with it. do i go spring for the dominator ram? or just deal for now and try to tweak this? right now i gotta deal so i gotta tweak. what is the difference anyway? is it the amount of sticks? speed? its all very confusing. again, thanks for your help and i will get that template done asap

I love these forums. just had a mobo error code C1, and read all these posts I could find. Then I removed my memory sticks (Corsair XMS 1600) two at 1Gig ea. and blew on them like we use to to our old game decks and cartridges, reinserted them and all is fine. EVGA thank you so much for these forums.
