I used to have a pretty decent OC, but I got greedy and went for a memory upgrade even though i probably didn't need it. Now I can't get it to work.

USED TO HAVE:

i7 5820k 3.0 overclocked to 4.5ghz
RAM 32 gb 2666mhz on XMP Profile

Of course, I already sold my previous memory sticks.

Now I bought 32gb of 3400mhz and I just need to see if I am able to make this work. XMP Profile will only go up to 3200mhz, and that setting isn't stable.

I'd hate to have to return these and buy the same ones I had at twice the price I sold them.

Please advise :(

Are they listed on the Memory Compatibility page? http://www.evga.com/support/motherboard/
What is the FULL model number and make of your new 3400MHz Memory?

No, it's not, it's one above the 3200mhz one:

FULL model number and make:

CMU32GX4M4C3400C16R / DIMM 8 / Total 32 / Frecuency 3400MHz /

Even if it's compatible, the CPU has to be able to handle it. 2133MHz is the max you are guaranteed with that CPU. Anything more is a bonus.
Just went through this my self buying RAM my system couldn't handle. Fortunately it has two XMP profiles and the lower setting was stable.

I tried the old XMP profile  (2666mhz) and it got up to 3333mhz... Pretty close... I can live with that.

THanks!

That's pretty dang good for a 5820K. A lot wont even hit 3000.

Haswell-E will top off at 3200 Mhz, you are going to need to upgrade to Haswell-E for faster.  See here:  http://forums.evga.com/Micro2-and-faster-memory-m2603924.aspx#2617447

I think you mean Broadwell-e the second time not Haswell-e.

Getting 3333 Mhz is impressive, typically you need to run the processor at a fairly high overclock to achieve that. That said the real-world performance benefit that you will see may be minimal as the higher bandwidth will likely be offset by looser timings.
