Never any pre-orders, only "Auto Notify" (queue).  NVIDIA sets the release date and time and then EVGA will let us know what will happen.  So follow the forums and all will be revealed in due course.

Heh.. 45 minute NVidia stream... "and now the moment you've all been waiting for; introducing the 3090 TIE ...we'll tell you more later."

That was followed by 30 minutes with a dude who NEVER BLINKS talking about GPU in cars.

Oh, and the 3050 was announced. meh.

NVidia Omniverse and Canvas look interesting though.

..and yes, they said TIE, not tee-eye.

At least that is sorted out.  We now know how to say Ti and can sleep at night.

I prefer to read about the information afterwards.  It takes a lot less time than the dog and pony shows.

Yup, I've always pronounced it 'tee-eye' and I don't see myself changing that any time soon. Titanium is a chemical element with the symbol Ti, and that has always been pronounced 'tee-eye'.

They literally make it lol, and will continue to call it Ti because it stands for Titanium, meaning the first two letters would be pronounced exactly how they say it is pronounced. T.I. or T-I Would be pronounced as such, but you wouldn’t say T-I-tanium because it doesn’t make sense.

And I have always, and will probably always, call it T-I. Doesn’t change why they call it what they do.

Even Jensen Huang called them T-I at the 2080 Ti launch, and the 1080 Ti launch as well. My assumption would be that this was an employee preference.

LOL!  nah, about 200 people instantly commented "TIE!" on the stream as soon as it came out of that guy's mouth.

..and then later screaming for the other guy to "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, BLINK ALREADY!" lololol

I am personally interested in the car technology since it's going to be great for when we all get older to have the ability to still get around with self driving cars that can take us to the store or to a doctors appointment. I also feel that with who some other drivers act it would be nice if they had a self driving car that knows how to use a turn signal.

As for the name of the card I have always heard it's Ti the element symbol for Titanium.

Except Ti isn't an abbreviation, it's the chemical symbol. Like how no one says "feh", "mug", "hhhhhhhhhh" etc, nor do they abbreviate "eyr", "mag", "heye".

I've given up on ever getting a 3000 series.  Missed all the queues last year cause I wasn't ready to buy.  Now with MSFS 2020 out, and I just got a Reverb G2 VR headset I REALLY actually need something.  Not paying 2-3x MSRP for it though from a scalper.  Just gonna suck it up and get in queue when 4090 (or equivalent) comes out at this point.

Or sign up for the Newegg Shuffle emails, click the link each day, sign up for cards you'd be willing to purchase at MSRP, possibly with a power supply or something you don't really want but is a lot less than the scalper surcharge, and then get told you weren't selected over and over until someday you get that email that says you were.

I'm queued with EVGA for a card I'll never be notified on. Meanwhile I got a 3080ti FTW3 from Newegg after perhaps twenty submissions or so.

It sounds like nvidia is just trying to shuffle around and push the prices higher on their high end cards which started with the 3080 Ti.  My guess on probable sequence of events...

3080 Ti released ($1200 MSRP) already occurred
    3090 will be discontinued ($1500)
    3090 Ti released at ($2000)

Nvidia could eventually discontinue the 3070 and 3080 and came out with two different "Super" chips (or at least the 3080).  Could be priced around $1000 in between the 3080 Ti ($1200) and current 3080 ($800)

The question is, if one is on a Step-Up queue for the 3090, what happens if the chip is discontinued?  I presume this situation hasn't occurred yet , and I recall reading on the forums evga will eventually get the card for you to step-up to, but this doesn't sound possible.  Unless EVGA already has their orders in to nvidia for each step-up which a person applied for
