Hello, I have been having some very irritating computer issues that I can not seem to track down. I am getting frozen games and computer shutting down daily. I check the event viewer and see this error: The description for Event ID 0 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
\Device\Video3 Error occurred on GPUID: 100
The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table I have gone through as much trouble shooting as I can muster on my own. I have tried new RAM, reseating GPU, uninstalling and installing the drivers, fresh install of windows, various changes in game graphics. I am at my wits end. My monitors don't kick on all the time when a restart happens. The mother board posts to final boot codes (it should be on) and I am thinking it has to be this card at this point. The game I play is New World through steam - I have done every bit of troubleshooing with them. Verify files, reinstall, dumb down graphics, change all types of settings. PLEASE HELP I AM GOING INSANE! Since this happens with two different computers, it's likely time to RMA the graphics card. Follow the steps on the right side here - https://www.evga.com/about/contactus/ (you can also call EVGA for step #3).

Also are you doing any overclocking when the crash occurs? If so stock only What is the pcie power plug config? Have you checked that all ends are fully seated at both the PSU side and gpu side? Sounds dumb but just double check with a flashlight. Have you tried going down to just one display? Remove non primary for trouble shooting imo for now Are you using a riser cable? If so remove Did you do a visual inspection of the pcie slot for damage? Card and mobo Is your crash a bsod or a hard black screen reset? Hard reset is more likely to be card/psu Does the system only crash when drawing more power or also at idle? If only under load, could be PSU too. There has been lots of funky behavior with bad PSUs in the past couple of years. Let us know. Good luck

No overclocking at all I have checked the cables recently but I will check again No riser Checked everything over 2 days ago and made sure everything was right. I get pixelated graphics and a hard crash I can't say that I have ever seen it crash while idle. Only gaming. Thank you all for the info

So it not Power Supply then... I more curious if you have disabled inter graphic on your motherboard? I checked in bios. It is disabled. I also disabled XMP

interesting. did you go down to 1 stick of ram testing both slots? you could try going onboard video though if your crashing doesnt happen at idle, it might be moot. realistically, it sounds like its GPU RMA time.

Or if you can try start again reset your BIOS Setting back default then shut down. Remove graphics card and unplug main power from your motherboard (28pins socket ) and CMOS battery then let leave drain all power down... After 10mins then try again put back and test boot up... Make you have remove power supply from the wall

If this only occurs on new world then it could be a game issue. Make sure to try the newest gpu drivers as well as some older ones from 3-6 months ago. I’d also suggest testing the card in another known good working system to see if the issue will follow the card.

It's much easier just to flip the switch on the PSU or if you're really concerned, unplug the PSU. No need for extra wear and tear on power supply cables. They are only good for so many cycles and it's been declining over the years as they cheap out on components.

Try underclocking the core by 30MHz, 45, or even 60 to see if the errors stop. I was getting those same errors when I was testing my core OC. I found I got that error when I was on the edge of stability. I never saw a BSOD or anything, my game would crash to desktop or the screen would go black & require a reset of the system. Lowering the OC by 15MHz resolved it but I left it down 30 for good measure. Since you're not OC'ing and if reducing the core by 30MHz + solves your issue, it's RMA time.

I had this issue as well so I'm going to share what fixed the issue for me. Go to your motherboard's bios and under PCI-E change it from Auto to Gen 3 if you have a gen 3 mobo and Gen 4 if you have gen 4 mobo. Save the settings and see if that doesn't fix your issue.

So I also have a 3080 Ti and started getting this when I migrated away from my Z490 with a 10700K to a X670 with a 7950X. I was thinking it was the motherboard I've done BIOS and Drivers updates cleared CMOS completed fresh installs of Windows and let my PC bench for hours without a crash and then randomly out of the blue it'll crash on me with the below in Event Viewer. I had this GPU for almost a year before hand and never received this error or had any problems when gaming. I was considering maybe it was the new X670 board but being you have a 12th gen Intel maybe not... Error: The description for Event ID 0 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found.
