I read a post on Reddit essentially claiming that they contacted support for a set of replacement thermal pads for a 3080 Ti FTW3 ULTRA GAMING and that the pads they received performed significantly better than the ones that came with the card originally.

I tried to hunt through the forums looking for some testing done by members that included some tear downs or before and after pictures using said pads but the posts mostly consisted of 3090 pad swaps. Was wondering if there is indeed a special order via support for the 3080 TI FTW3 product and if so if there is a noticeable difference. I would rather go through EVGA for the pads than a third party (gelid, thermalright, whomever).

I haven't heard of anything like that but that doesn't mean much. Reach out to support and ask, or at least ask the right size so that you can buy some aftermarket pads. Why don't you want to buy pads from a third party?

In the 3090 threads I did find there was talk of RMA issues if the card wasn't returned to factor spec. Specifically, people sending cards back with aftermarket pads and having to pay a fee to EVGA before service would be rendered. I have a reasonable assumption (although this could be wrong) that if I source a set of pads directly from EVGA to replace the pads already on the card that by using their pads and having proof of said purchase that I would eliminate any sort of issues down the road if the card had to be sent back (RMA due to damage, trade-up, whatever).

Also, the 3090 threads mentioned the fact that the pad service from tech support was significantly cheaper than the third party options.

If I can get better performance, at a better price, without complicating future support issues by going directly through EVGA then it's a no-brainer for me even if that means not getting "as good" of performance compared to a third party product.

Gotcha. I've read people say the same thing about RMAs without the stock pads, but you can always store the stock pads and reapply them, although you'd have to be careful not to tear them. But yeah, if you can get better performance for lower price more power to you.

Using the Wrong Size or Hardness pads is possibly a warranty issue = "Not returned to stock condition"

Most issues might be people probably Fail to use the thermal Putty that EVGA does use ... it is NOT all thermal pads

Yeah be sweet if they had pads on their site for ea card. . I'd by an extra set and the putty when ever I needed to reinstall the original hestsink as I always water cool.

Would make reselling the card way too easy.

This^^^ I have ordered 3 sets of stock thermal pads for my 3080 and 3080Ti (had to do this thru Evga Support), as well as 3 tubes of thermal putty....cmon Evga get those Stock Thermal Pads up on your site alongside the Thermal Putty....

Did you find that the pads you ordered were better than the ones the card came with or was this more of a case where you had to order pads because you were swapping from the air cooler it came with to something else (EVGA's hybrid system, an EK waterblock, etc.)?

You definitely answered my first question (there is a special order of pads via support for the 3080TI) - I'm just trying to get more data points on how those pads stack up compared to the ones that shipped with the card.

The pads sent to me from Evga were stock pads, same as what is on em originally. My Cards always have Water Blocks one,so temps are a non issue.
That is correct, Im constantly switching from Stock Cooler to Water Block when switching cards, selling cards etc etc....quite often I re-use the stock pads when I re-install the air cooler if they come off easily (just wrap them in cellophane with the air cooler, put it back in the box until needed).

I got some of the putty but the ability to buy stock pads directly from EVGA website would be absolutely AMAZING! Perhaps they feel that they couldn't keep up with supply or wouldn't make enough $ to make it worthwhile. Considering that they have some odd pad sizes (2.25mm), it would be ideal for people to pick up an extra set or 2 to prolong the use of their card or help those who change cooling solutions frequently. Hopefully, it's something EVGA will consider in the future.
