I just received 2 hybrids and love the performance and temperature. Seems like something's wrong though. I get a pretty loud buzzing noise from the card(s) (not sure if it's just the top one or both yet, have to pull one out to identify).

Essentially sounds like: //1drv.ms/u/s!ApQavpmLANX8nIF34EFhAQL9Hu2kxA (put an https: in front of it...)

I have both cards setup below the radiators (yes I know it looks ugly and yes I know the bottom card's cables look a bit tight - I might try to fix this if I can figure out how).
(See attached image)

Would love some advice. I've tried shaking for bubbles etc as other posts have mentioned. If I can get rid of the buzzing noise, these cards are perfect!

Thank you in advance for any help!

Just pulled them out and swapped them around. The sound comes from both cards...

Almost sounds like there is something rubbing against a fan blade.

Have you tried ramping each fan speed up/down on each card (you can do this with precision X1) to see if the sound seems to track fan speed?

I've actually stopped all of the fans that I can control with X1 and the sound still persists. Haven't taken off the shroud though, is that something to investigate maybe?

Wouldn't hurt to check it out.

Since I bought the hybrid card itself and not the kits. Would anyone have a photo of what it's supposed to look like with the shroud off? Everything looks good from what I can tell, there isn't anything obstructing any of the fans.

This is mine before I put on the shroud.

So after removing the shroud and digging around a bit, everything pretty much looks like the photo above. I'm guessing these cards are both bad, but that kind of scares me to do an RMA on it if the sound is a normal sound...

I got my kit for the 2080 ti Ultra on Friday and installed it on Saturday. It worked fine for a few minutes and then heavy buzzing started to come from the fan I installed on the card. I opened the card again, made sure that the fan was not touching any of the wires (even used tape to make sure all cables stay put) and turned it back on. Again it worked fine for about 20 minutes and the buzzing noise came back. I send an e-mail to CS asking for a replacement (meanwhile put my original cooler back on so I can use the card without the risk of damaging my precious). Now they want me to upload a video of what sound is coming out of it with the hybrid kit on. I don't think it's a good idea to keep swapping stuff back and front until they figure out that the problem is with the kit they sent to me.
I'm waiting on CS reply to my response.

I got a lot of my problems figured out. Turns out placement of the radiators are important. Since I have 2 cards and 2 radiators. I was trying to get both to exhaust up top of the computer. I've now changed one to exhaust out of the side and one out of the top. The buzzing noise is a lot less in intensity (I still hear it, but it's a lot quieter). I also changed the fans on the radiator. The EVGA ones are really loud, swapped them out with some corsair ones I had lying around. They are amazing! Constant 35 - 50 C temps on both cards.

    Hello!

Typically, we look for a video / audio clip of the noise (video, being a better option) so that we can determine the noise, and where it could be coming from. Sometimes a buzzing noise could simply be coil whine, and would not be a cause of concern. It is possible you hear this with the hybrid kit as the power flowing through the card is different than with the air shroud. In your case specifically, it may be when the fan is operating with the hybrid kit. However the noise from both cards is peculiar and the videos would help us greatly to look into your case further! :)

Interesting...it's almost like EVGA has a little pamphlet inside the hybrid box with pictures and a description of how and where you should place your radiator.

    I have this same problem.

Talked to EVGA support and they said give it a week to break in.

But exactly what the guys above said -- it's a constant "buzzing" that doesn't change unless you completely remove card.

If the images of your system are current or similarly to your mods rigs, I would flip that rad with the tubes heading back to the GPU from the bottom and not the top.  You need the air pockets to get trapped on top of the radiator, otherwise they could get circulated or lodged into the pump and create issues.

Use this Associate Code at your checkouts or follow these instructions for Up to 10% OFF on all your EVGA purchases:

    I'm flipping it right now.

Here is video of mine; it shouldn't be hard to tell what I'm talking about outside fan noise.

    It's that "electrical harmonic humming".

Re: 2x 2080 TI Hybrid FTW buzzing noise from pump 2019/07/20 22:44:14 (permalink)
Are you guys referring to a buzzing noise akin to a bar fridge? It's the pump - it runs at 100% and there's no way to slow it down as of yet without getting creative with fan cabling to the card's connectors. I've RMAed the Hybrid kit once already, and it does the same thing. It's unfortunately due to the quality of the AIO used.

However the one "fix" I've found (and works for me, found it on here actually) is using a small, weak magnet over where the pump is located. This basically "aligns" the spinning motor inside of the pump so it buzzes a lot less with little to no performance downgrade as a result. I did not need to put the magnet underneath the shroud, though I did end up taping the magnet to the shroud to make sure it doesn't fall off. If you care about aesthetics (which I don't since you can't see the GPU in my case), then this likely won't be a good solution.

I'm not enabled for PMs so I can't reply to yours. But I bought these (remove the spaces):

    ht tps://www.am azon.com/gp/aw/d/B07792KCNF?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Basically just one of those, can remove the glass part since the magnet is just adhered with some weak glue. Put it over the center of where the pump is, but slightly closer to the hoses.
