Hello all When I play games, the MEM2 and MEM3 modules of my card reach 82c in temperature. Should this card be RMA'd? The MEM1 module never gets hotter than 52c, and the gpu reaches a max of 71c. I am using Precision X1 with stock clocks. The fan profile is "Aggressive". I also have good airflow in my case (three 140mm intake fans and two 140mm exhaust fans). Thanks.

I had 2 cards so far (first one was rmad for really bad coil whine). Both of them have around 84C +600mhz on memory and +130 core OC (105% power limit). If I open my case the memory goes down by 2C so not much. With my full oc +1000 memory and 124% power target my mem2 goes to 89C, mem3 goes to 87C, GPU2 (which is mem1 actually, thats where the memory modules are on the card, I opened the card to check that) is 85C and GPU temp is 74C (68% fan speed). So I don't think theres any point to RMA really, since both my first and second card had same memory temps. At least thats from my experience. It just looks like the memory seems to run hot on ftw3 with stock cooler. edit: My room temp is around 23C.

If Gamerz Nexus is to be believed (generally he is), VRAM on these cards is safe up to 120C and slightly beyond. I have a 2080 ti FTW3 Ultra. In games like Metro Exodus, Anthem and BF5 my GPU hovers anywhere from 64C to 72C. I've seen MEM2 (which is just above the GPU and normally gets the hottest) reach temps as high as 88C. So at max of 82C for you, I'd say you are more than safe and shouldn't worry.

That would be VRM and not VRAM. VRAM also known as memory has max operating temp of 95C, I remember a forum mod answering this question (i was searching for it too with my first card). So anything up to 90C should be fine really, only when temps go above 90C is when you should start to worry.

Thanks all for your replies. I was looking at some older topics regarding this, and I saw this post by an EVGA employee: EVGATech_JoseC This is something that we are looking into, if your temperatures under load for the memory bank end up at above 80C +- please contact us for a RMA.
The post is here: h ttps://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2874936 (remove the space in the https) Is this still accurate? Hoping one of the EVGA posters here can confirm.

If one of the techs recommended it, nobody here is really gonna disagree. Mine never go above like 74c at +1000

The micron gddr6 spec sheet says it's fine to operate the memory up to 95c. Anything up to 95c is fine, but lower is always better.

Whats your fan speed? Makes me jealous really because I get 88C +1000mhz with 68% fan speed... But I am planning on getting the hybrid kit when its available in EU (if the next get doesn't come out before that hahaha) so that should help a lot with temps.

EVGA support recommended you rma your card because the memory temp hit 52c?

I doubt the MEM1 temp was the issue. It's likely because MEM2 and MEM3 hit 82c with the "Aggressive" fan curve.

I think I have them set to 60-65% at 60° which is what my card usually runs at in demanding games like AC odyssey in 4k. I think the reason I get better temps then most others on air is because of the way cases are designed these days. I keep wanting a new case for aesthetics but nothing offers what I want in cooling. I've got the nzxt phantom 820 with 200mm front intake, 2x 140mm bottom intakes, a 140mm fan in the center bracket blowing directly under the card, 2x 200mm exhausts on top, a 140mm rear exhaust, and side panel where the GPU is is mesh so all the hot air that vents out the side of these cards is free to directly exit the case (under load I can feel a steady stream of hot air coming out of the case next to the card) and all the fans in my build save for the center and 200s are noctuas. I also prefer keeping my room cold so ambient temps at the highest are like 68°f
