PrimeGrid has been announced as the 3rd discipline. (Cross Country)

No specific sub-project named though.

Hey yodap!
So far all is still well , however there´s a massive storming looming on the horizon and I´ll just leave it at that ( to not break the TOS).....

On the pogs site it says this.
"

About this challenge:

a short challenge during the city run
the challenge here is optional...you must not sign in for the Pentathlon..."

So do I then take my account out on the POGS site?
Pogs should not have used the same name "BOINC Pentathlon Challenge"

Just set up theSkyNet/POGS for now.  CSG has had no new work in at least a day - pretty much ruining the marathon part of the Pentathlon.

Looks like Citizen Science Grid has some work available now, so I have added it on one of my two systems since we are pretty low in the rankings there.

"app_info for recent AMD graphic cards (R9-290 or later):" I cannot believe that PrimeGrid has not fixed this yet, it has been over a year now.
Nice that they provide the files: Windows, Linux 32, Linux 64, Mac OS X

Re: 2016 BOINC Pentathlon!!! 2016/06/06 22:16:24 (permalink)
The 4th project of the BOINC Pentathlon in the discipline Swimming is:
Universe@home (http://universeathome.pl/universe/)

All credits granted between
12 Jun 2016, 0.00 (UTC) and
19 Jun 2016, 0.00 (UTC) will be taken into the BOINC Pentathlon validation.

As for PrimeGrid, I'm all for choosing what we think is the best subproject with short tasks, preferably GPU based since all other project appear to be CPU only.
And I finally got some CitizenScienceGrid tasks!

Do I need to run everything on Citizen Science Grid or split it with POGs? I am getting Work Units from both.

Anyone see any issues with this file?

Sorry, wish I knew more about that. Are you trying to customize each sub-project with multiple amd cards?

The best strategy for me would be short PG tasks on the GPU. PPS sieve take about 10 minutes and are worth 3371 points. 2 tasks at a time can be run  on most cards. A single 970 can do almost a million a day.

We are behind in CSG by no fault of our own, and the tasks could run dry again. At this point I'm doing both.

Thanks for the answers Yodap! Whatever we do let's agree on a strategy and run with it. I think if we are all on the same page working together we will kick some butt.
I'm all in with using some GPU in Primegrid as I have plenty of GPU (but that's just me) however if everyone wants to stick with CPU intense projects I am in with that too.

I haven't compared points as I only have CPUs, but from discussions I have read in the past, won't GPUs outperform CPUs by a huge margin (like 10x or more)?  If that is true, it seems that we should keep our CPUs on CSG and POGS whilst using all the GPU power we have to attack PG.

This post at PG from a couple years ago when the credit for PPS Sieve was adjusted sums it up

I'm confused as to why the Nvidia cuda PPS Sieve is fairly short but gives so much credit: it seems to be 3,371 per task! May I ask exactly why this is?

The GPU program is very efficient and utilizes the GPU very well. That's why it runs so quickly. The task itself is actually quite a large task.

If you were to run the very same task on a cpu core you wouldn't think it's a very short task. You might even be asking why its credit is so low and is only 3,371.

Were you to read through the forums, you would see that we lowered the credit on this sieve a couple of years ago, which was widely hailed throughout the user community as a fantastic move. (Okay, maybe not so much. "Angry mob with pitchforks" might be a better description.)

Bottom line is we're happy with where the credit is right now and think it's the correct level. Understand that there's no "perfect" credit formula -- but there are certainly ways of assigning credit that are far worse that what we use.

Sorry gang not up much on this anymore, this is what we are going to run now?
Proth Prime Search Sieve (PPS-Sieve) on the GPU and not the CPU.

That is my vote because if the weather heats up again I'd have more control over them. Can't argue with the points either.
We can start dropping them in less than 26 hours so have at them. I have about 400 squirreled away.
bcav, let us know what those big AMD cards can do on them.

So I have to fly out of here Friday and return Sunday night. Let me know the settings and when I should start bunkering given my schedule. Until further instructions I am running CSG and POGS.
Thanks my EVGA broheims!

I really do not like bunkering, but if the team is doing it I will start after my current testing.
