It doesn't matter where I am on the list.  I am proud to have contributed to the CC prize list and the CC itself.

Agreed. Besides, I got my prizes already thanks to the awesomeness of the forum members here and one specific one.....You know who you are!!!

Wow I'm 41! I could find a use for pretty much anything on the list (it's only a few steam games that I already have, and even then I know people that I could earn a few brownie points with by gifting it to them) so I'm super excited!

Big thank you to all donors! And congrats to the other winners (even the 40 of you that got ahead of me )

Edit: Also curious to hear about what's in the mystery prize. Be sure to let us know paintforbreakfast.

19 - best place yet!   I'm hoping for the one remaining GTX 260 to make it through the next three people to get to me...but then again, I won't be using my desktop much once I get my Alienware m14x, and the PPD increase isn't that much over my 8800GT...hmm...

Dude, go for one of the 9800GTX+.  That should give you a little bit of increase, I mean, why not?

well ussually its better that the Donator Pays the shipping imo, free is suppose to be free

I have prizes I wish I could donate, but problem is I can't cover the shippping cost, and I didnt want the prize winner to have to pay it either

I decided to take a $25 paypal.  The 9800GTX+ would only increase my PPD by about 1k.  If I had an open PCIe slot to put it in, I certainly would have taken it as that would be another 6k, but alas, it would have to replace the 8800GT.  The #25 paypal will go towards my savings for a bigadv rig.

P.S. is it my responsibility to pm the donator?

Sorry, I made my decisions Too based on shipping costs, and listed one donation worldwide, and one USA only, I was not trying to cut anyone off, but like above just thinking of shipping cost. like above My defanition of a free prize is, free is free, and didn't even consider charging the winner, however next year if I am once again in a poition to give, I will consider that option, especialy now the way they do the prizes, because anyone that does not want to pay the shipping can just select another prize, drawback however is not all the prizes have a value that would be worth paying for shipping.

Especially for a PayPal sitruation, I think it is helpful to PM the donor.  The donor will need your email address associated with your PayPal account so they can send you the funds.

It is certanly acceptable to pm the donar, I was watcheing and PMed one of my winners, I also had someone else holding my prizes who PMed as well, but belive it or not, not everyone stays on the forms as much as me and SBB, so there is a good chance your donner may not know anyone has won yet, or that his prize has been selected.

well guys, the reason i say us only on my prizes is shipping costs.i live on my social security check and shipping overseas would break me.im always broke by the middle of the month anyway,it is just hard to save money when you only get paid once a month.and i do not use paypal so there is no way i could send overseas.im sorry but its all i can do to donate prizes.

Patches, I'm reminded of some good advice that a pastor once gave to me..."just do what you can do and don't worry about the rest".

The overseas shipping (which I know nothing about) is one reason that I also would have said US only had I decided to donate goods.  I just don't get involved with it enough to know the ins/outs, the costs, etc.  Any donation is a good one for the contest and I'm glad to see we had lots of stuff for the folks to choose from.

Yes, thank you everybody who donated.  Every donation counts.

It would probably be a good idea to say where you are willing to pay for shipping to, and allow the winner to pay the difference if it's more.

Mine has already been pm'd and done. I didn't think the 3dmark code would go so fast. Glad it's done and out of the way... Now to watch and see what this mystery prize is going to be.... Since brcromer isn't talking :P

Hi guys.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't we still able to donate prizes?  I certainly hope so because, just last night, I posted-up a prize on the official list. It ain't much, and I wish everyone who Folded for The Mighty 'Apes during CC could each be awarded one of their own, but this-here kid can't currently afford to be quite as generous as he'd like to be.

I plan to add to the prize list a little later in the pickin' process, in order to give a glimmer of hope to those whose names were pulled outta the hat after mine.  In my book, each one of you is equally deserving!

Re:2011 Chimp Challenge Prize Information 2011/05/18 11:13:50 (permalink)
Dont get me wrong, i wish everyone could get a prize. But adding prizes "after" the selection has begun doesnt seem right to me. When my pick came up at #7 i didnt see anything i wanted or needed so i passed, well, later i saw that Crysis 2 was added after my pick. Now,..my reply isnt about getting that game its about seeing a prize after the fact.
For example if i added another 560ti to the pool right now wouldnt someone get a little ticked? *someone would be happy but ....seriously* Basically what is considered high value to one may not be to another or vice verse.
IMO anything that someone wants to add after the selection has started should be put into a standing prize pool for any upcoming events. Again im not trying to come off the wrong way i wish there were "more" than enough prizes for everyone that participated. I guess what im thinkin is "prizes should be randomly assigned to participants" rather than picks, because as we can see the first picks get the best prize. But to keep adding after the fact, "in its current setup" doesnt seem right *to me*.

I have to say, at first I was excited to win a prize, and thought a GPU could increase my PPD and allow me to give my 570 a rest, since I fold on my main (only) rig and don't have much cash for replacement parts should something happen.  Now I feel bad that others may be more in need than me even.  I hope next challenge I can spare and old GPU or something useful for folding to return the favor.

You make a valid argument, Cap'm Krunch, and I see your point.

However, I've already committed to donating said prize, so you won't see me reneging on the offer.  Does anyone else have any objections to me tossin'-out any further "after-the-fact" prizes for CC 2011?

Hey I'm here all the time just with less spam!

Well that spam adds up; and the BR's you get for reaching a milestone add up, The more times you post, the greater the odds of someone seeing and using your affiliate code, adds up, and the more you buy for free , the more you can donate, so it's all relative. Well according to my theroy of relativity, but I'm no Einstein.
