Hey people owning a 2011 Socket Motherboard, i'm Wondering if a 1366 CPU cooler can be used with a 2011 Socket Motherboard,

i've read that the CPU mount is higher on the 2011 Socket mother boards so that by trying to mount a 1366 CPU cooler, wouldn't even get through the Mounting holes.

but i also hear that it can that be adjusted through a bracket which i am still searching for, it probably has to come with the cooler,

i want to Build a 2011 Socket just for Gaming, not a enthusiast, but also for aesthetics, I was thinking to Use a Thermaltake SpinQ VT for the CPU Cooler,  i dunno what everyone thinks about it but i think thats a Wicked CPU cooler.
maybe it would be useless but i also want to take advantage of the PCI e 3.0 as well since the speculations are what everyones saying that its basically PCIe 32x on the Motherboard. would totally be awesome Whenever Nvidia Releases the Next Gen GPU. if anyone can help me, thanks i Appreciate iot

    Yes you can.

But your going to have to purchase a LGA2011 mounting bracket kit which allows you to use that cooler on a compatible motherboard.

    Setup:
    Corsair 250D
    Corsair H100i
    Intel Core i5 4670K @ 4.4 GHz
    Asus Z97I-PLUS
16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 2400 MHz
    EVGA GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0 w/ NZXT Kraken G10 + Corsair H55
    Corsair HX850i
    Samsung 840 PRO 256GB
    Windows 7 x64

Yes I used that X-socket feature. Funny, the 2011 socket std backplate looks like an "X", the non-standard one I used W/Megahalems didn't; the marketing info seems backward.

    Before the switch:

    Notice the "X" look:

Removed socket assy, be very careful, the socket pins are quite vulnerable to the slightest touch here:

Notice the 8 thin clear plastic washers. I recommend you be careful not to loose them, and keep them there.

The Asus "X-socket" backplate is just like the 1366 socket backplate

Anyway, yeah I switched out the backplate, first testing the stock tightness of the CPU socket screws, and duplicating that torque as well as I could. One screw seemed a bit loose.

    The Megahalems mount rear bracket:

Those barrel bolts were tight against the CPU socket assy when each nub was turned where the nub was closest. The holes in the 2011 socket area for mounting are much larger, allowing room for adjustment. But it worked fine.
