Coil whine under load, extremely loud without limiting FPS, a bit quieter with limiting the FPS, but still quite audible outside of my case.  My screen flickers when entering/exiting fullscreen videos.  The video of some of my games, especially Grim Dawn, would randomly freeze while the game audio would continue and I could hear my character dying.  Other random game crashes, weird startup issues where my monitors either wouldn't turn on, or one of them would just cycle RGB colors.

I was narrowing it down to the Strix or the FTW3. I guess I will have to wait and get the FTW3. I just had to RMA a PSU for coil whine and don't want to deal with a GPU with it.     

May our framerates be high and our temperatures low.

as much as I want the elite FTW 3 in black, I don't know if there will be a price difference between that card and the ftw 3 original card. if it's a 20$ difference it might be worth it for me, but IMO if it means that I will need to wait 2 more weeks for it then it isn't worth it...
and no ghost recon game? that would be a bummer for me...

I think the card is inherently a good one and I just got a not so good one. The temps were peaking at ~63C and it ran well when it wasn't messing up.

I wasn't able to get a preorder on the FTW3, so I'll see how the ELITE FTW3 prices out. If I can't get a ELITE FTW3 then I will consider more options.

i have a feeling they won't be a delay just for the simple fact that it's been a month now they maybe took x pre orders from website and ramped up production for the past month plus so they won't be issues like the 1080

I'm still waiting for that Pre-order button to show, I apparently missed it the first and second time. So for the past two weeks I've been checking the site and refreshing the page every few hours during the day for the Pre-order button to re-appear.

This is regardless of overclocking software.  The other components of my computer are all new within the last 8 months and my previous 1070 Strix was running just fine.  I got a new EVGA gold 850 watt PSU, but the coil whine didn't go away.  I also reinstalled Windows and nothing changed.


everything but the coil whine ofc is nvidia driver / windows creators update related. They even released a hotfix driver for the weird random blackscreen/rgb colors on windows start-up. Just search the nvidia forums.

I tried the previous NVIDIA driver that had been working just fine for the 1070 I had in there and it didn't change anything.

 best bet is to sub to evga/jacob on twitter that's how i got lucky for the 1080/ and the ti the alerts are instant unlike the email

Evga Jacob made a post the other day stating that they were on time with the ftw3's. So I'm assuming they will be shipping May 1st so you may see the money be pulled sometime this week.

BH Video changed my expected ship date from may 17th to may 11th. good news. My order from EVGA still is showing ship date of May 8th. and yes I ordered two of them.

So when I ordered my FTW3, Ghost Recon/For Honor was advertised as a free game.. now it's no longer showing.  Will I still be able to get Ghost Recon/For Honor?  If not, I think that's BS and false advertising.  After all, I did place my order while that campaign was in effect.
