I don't know whether to be annoyed or amused. They were shipping it ground, which according to the tracking gets it here Tuesday, instead overnight like I emailed them about so I'd have it this weekend, then they upgrade it to second day air, which, according to the tracking, gets it here.....tuesday.. 2nd day air gets it here the same day as ground would have. So I don't know if I should be annoyed that it's next week delivery still because they didn't overnight it like I wanted, or amused because they tried to expedite it but just ended up paying more money for shipping to get it here on the same day as ground delivery..

It could be that the change happened a little too late. I would contact CS (again unfortunately, since, if I remember, you have been trying to get it changed).

It's not worth it. It still wouldn't get here until at least Tuesday even with over night at this point cuz it wouldn't be sent out til Monday morning from the ups hub in Cali. I am really not happy with the way any of this worked out between the delays, the ignored emails, the incorrect shipping, especially after how much longer this cars took to come out than any other manufacturers.

Mine arrived at a UPS location that's literally a 10 minute drive away from me.  But there is no option for pick up, so I have to wait until Monday.

Usually those non-hub locations will have a customer center on-site you can go to and ask to pick it up regardless so long as you have the tracking info. No guarantee they'll let you pick it up but worth a try if you've got the time to spare.

I paid for Next Day Air when I pre-ordered.  EVGA kicked in the Saturday delivery upgrade.  There is an up-charge for Saturday delivery but I don't know how much that is.

Hey, I'm in the US...I just pre-ordered from Newegg and no one, not Newegg...not EVGA, etc can give me any answers on when I can expect my card.

Considering how the Newegg site has an eta posted of May 9th, for anyone and everyone to see, I find that highly unlikely... yours will ship out on an estimated date of May 9...

That ETA has been there for the better part of 2 weeks, right next to where it says out of stock.

Gentlemen, I can now affirm the wait was most assuredly worth it.

As is customary for me with new hardware, I did an overnight burn-in of both cards, folding all night on Seti@home work units at 100% utilization.

The crunching performance is truly amazing: 40% faster completion times on work units compared to the GTX 1080.
Both cards overclocked themselves at a sustained 2,062MHz throughout.
Compared to past GPUs under similar conditions, temperatures under heavy load are astonishingly low, only 55C for the "constrained" card and 49C for the first.
The fans spin at just 50% under load and they are audible, but with just a low, kind of pleasing "hush" sound.
Needless to say, but I will say it anyway: I am extremely impressed and so very pleased!

Looks awesome man! Getting both my cards on Tuesday. Can't wait. Did you use the slave bios for your initial testing run? Anything sustained over 2000 seems to be good numbers and validates a good silicone lottery card. Did you notice that much throttling, especially on the main card since it's more choked off?

Excellent stuff! (deleted the screenshots to keep the post kinda short since they're in your original). Anyhow, quick questions: did you upgrade from 1080 FTW SLI? If so, what were your temps with those cards if you remember? Also, you mentioned that "Both cards overclocked themselves at a sustained 2,062MHz throughout." Your EVGA Precision screenshot shows you added 100 to the clock. So I don't understand what you mean by "overclocked themselves." Could you elaborate on that please?

Thanks for sharing these! Can't wait to install my 2 tomorrow. :)

Whoa! Isn't Master BIOS the one with the lower default clock too?! I don't remember the difference off the top of my head at the moment, but I thought I heard somewhere that was the case...

You are correct: Those were not shots of the stock configuration; I shouldn't have used the word "themselves".
Those captures were taken using the master/standard BIOS configuration with a +100MHz offset that I assigned.

This is my totally stock SLI configuration.
Both cards are clocking themselves over 250MHz above the 1,683MHz default boost clock:

Both cards crunched all night at 2,062MHz using the +100MHz offset I specified, which is 370MHz above the default boost clock.
The highest GPU temperature recorded was the "constrained" card at 57C.

To reach 2,075MHz, a milestone which seems to be popular out there, I increased the offset by just 2MHz up to +102MHz.
This produces an a clock rate that's 392MHz higher than the default boost:

An impressive result considering there is very little difference in GPU or power temperatures between the stock and overclocked configurations, although memory temperatures did rise around 5C.  An even more astonishing observation: There was almost no increase in fan speed either!

There is no doubt a two-slot design benefits SLI configurations; another reason I waited for the FTW3.  The GPU and power temperatures run 5C hotter at peak load in the "constrained" card, although memory temperatures are nearly identical for both cards.  That is the smallest SLI temperature delta I have ever encountered in my air-cooled system (CoolerMaster HAF XB EVO).

The new EVGA cooling solution is another reason I waited.  It is time to unlock both cards and lower individual fan RPMs to bring down the noise level a bit.  I need to create profiles for work, play, folding and silent modes....

I haven't encountered any throttling yet.  There is a 5C delta in GPU and power temperature between the open and "choked" card, but memory temperatures are essentially identical.  A 5C delta is good; it's the best SLI temperatures I have ever encountered in an air-cooled configuration.  Past SLI configurations (ASUS Strix GTX 1070 OC and GTX TITAN) had 3C and 10C higher deltas in the same air-cooled chassis (CoolerMaster HAF XB EVO with Noctua NH-D15 heatsink).

Hi Soulshot96,

Our support team is not provided with information on ETAs or shipping dates beyond the estimates that were originally provided.

[REDACTED]

Both cards crunched all night at 2,062MHz using the +100MHz offset I specified, which is 370MHz above the default boost clock.
The highest GPU temperature recorded was the "constrained" card at 57C.

[REDACTED]

To reach 2,075MHz, a milestone which seems to be popular out there, I increased the offset by just 2MHz up to +102MHz.
This produces an a clock rate that's 392MHz higher than the default boost:

[REDACTED]

Incredible indeed! Thanks again for the thorough response. From my experience with the two 1080 FTW in SLI, getting ANYTHING over the stock is lottery! I had zero luck with overclocking on mine--tried with 4 different cards (the 2 from prior to the overheating issue and the 2 after I RMA'd the first 2). My temps under full load for each card was around 70 - 75C, again without any overclocking. For comparison purposes, my case is also air-cooled (CM Storm Stryker), which is massive and had/has more than adequate airflow...

PS. Sorry for the off-topic discussions here...  I know this thread is for people who are anxiously waiting for their cards. Hopefully, it'll all be worth the wait and we'll all have similar results as @SonicAgamemnon

Soulshot96I mean, yea, BUT their support couldn't give me any date whatsoever and seemed completely oblivious to the fact that they even had a date on the sale page OR the pre order page...didn't inspire any confidence lol.

Hi Soulshot96,

Our support team is not provided with information on ETAs or shipping dates beyond the estimates that were originally provided. I can assure you that we are trying to get all pre-orders shipped as quickly as possible, but, unfortunately, we just do not have any concrete information available to us. I do apologize for any inconvenience.

If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to contact our team anytime, at  or by phone at 888-881-3842.

Oh, I am sorry, I should have clarified in my second comment, it wasn't EVGA support, it was Newegg, which is where my pre order is. You wouldn't happen to know if the shipments for Newegg are on schedule would you?

For me, I pick the color, wait a second, and a build to order button pops up, I click it, and the card is added to my cart.

Nope.  You should be fine.  Just go ahead and install the GPU and the drivers as usual.  Only use DDU when you're either stepping back to a older driver or switching to AMD or vise versa.

Use this Associate Code at your checkouts or follow these instructions for Up to 10% OFF on all your EVGA purchases:

Amazon order placed on 4/29. They just told me via support that it's shipping soon and due for delivery on the 10th. Woo!

Is that Amazon US?  I pre-ordered mine on April 6th from Amazon US and the Amazon rep had no idea when they'd be in stock or shipping when I talked to them on May 5th.
