So currently my GTX 1060 3gb runs better than my new 1080 ti ftw3. I can only play on the 1080 ti ftw3 for 5 minutes before it overheats. I force all the fans to run at 100% it gives me like 5 minutes more before hitting temperatures of 90*C+. I'm playing the same games, such as Nioh and Battletech. It doesn't change the length I can play when I lower the graphics. Power temp and memory temp only get about 42*C so i don't think air flow is a problem. Any suggestions?

Sounds to me like you need to take it apart and check your thermal paste application, signs indicate that could be a likely problem. When you put all fans at 100% have you confirmed they are in fact speeding up to 100%? What case do you have this in? Maybe your trapping the heat inside without enough exhaust fans, remove your side panel if its a closed case and see what happens by letting outside air in.

Remove the side cover of the Case & point a fan at it ---> what are the temps ? Room & GPU

GPU MHz at idle & when running ?

I literally just starting having overheating issues in the last couple weeks on my 1080ti FTW3 card as well. (at the same time I did a fresh windows install on a new ssd and updated to latest drivers)

Whats weird for me is it's sporadic. One day I can run MHW and never break 60C, but the next day I run with same settings and it climbs up to 75C-80C and crashes my card.

Wondering if this is a driver issue.

edit: i submitted a full ticket to evga to see what they suggest. also noticed some new drivers got posted today, will try and see if they help at all. But to confirm other peoples questions: ambient: 69F, all fans spin when demanded, fan curve set to 40% at idle up to 100% at 60C in msi afterburner, no dust in the card, plenty of airflow in the case thoroughly dusted all filters/fans. And attempted a full DDU safe mode uninstall of the 441.66 drivers, and reinstall. no luck
edit2: upon further investigation, it appears alot of folks claim afterburner is fairly incompatible with the FTW3 1080ti due to poor/nonexistent fan control. I will be trying out XOC when I get home to see how that fares.
