Is there a download for a higher power BIOS version for the legit FTW3 Hybrid GPU?

Re: 1080 TI FTW3 watercooled Slave BIOS doesn't go over 117% 2019/01/14 17:47:54 (permalink)
I tried flashing and it didn't apply or didn't flash. I followed the instructions on the first page to the letter and no go! Any help would be appreciated!

EDIT: Also, all the links are down. The kingpin site is down so the file links are dead too. Any reason why it's down?

EDIT 2: I have a 6696 card and I tried using the secondary.exe to flash and it flickered (went black) for a split second and that was it. I did confirm that I was using the slave bios at the time and turned off XOC when flashing the BIOS but the old bios is still there and the new one never flashed. Do I have to rename the .rom file to something specific for it to flash (Using a Hybrid OC .rom from kingpin I downloaded awhile ago)?

The "Here" link still don't work, but the other two do, thank you Sajin! However this is still not a fix! Since it's not EVGA official! I would like my card to be recognized as the card it actually is, and not some ftw3 hybrid nonsens.

Which is what power limit? I want the OFFICIAL FTW3 Hybrid BIOS, not a hacked one as I have the genuine Hybrid from EVGA, not from a kit

Can you please explain if I have the correct update or whether I've messed something up.
The normal switch BIOS is 86.02.39.41.92
The OC switch BIOS is 86.02.39.01.91

Have I somehow reversed the BIOS files? I didn't think I updated the normal BIOS at all.
What is the "primary" BIOS for in the download package?
Should I flash primary on Normal switch and secondary on OC switch?

When I flashed primary to Normal I ended up with BIOS version 86.02.39.00.91
Is that the stock BIOS or a modified one? I can still move my XOC sliders to 127% and 89C.

If you flashed both the normal & oc switch with their respective .exe's, and both vbios's show up as 127% then they are both modified.

Is there a difference between the two if both are flashed to these modified BIOS files?

I obtained the original slave BIOS from the nvflash.rar file, but I can't find the original master BIOS.

I have FTW3 card with version for Normal bios: 86.02.39.00.90. Do I need to upgrade my both bios if I don't want to overclock my card? Where can I find more info about updated bios, what changes? On techpowerup I couldn't find any difference among 86.02.39.00.90, 86.02.39.40.92, 86.02.39.41.92.

I just got off the phone with EVGA tech support. Support sent me the original Master and Slave BIOS files. They are 86.02.39.00.90 (Normal) and 86.02.39.01.90 (OC).

The instructions that came with it said to:
Flash Master BIOS
1) Disable graphics card driver in Device Manager.
2) Power off PC.
3) Move BIOS switch to "Master" mode.
4) Power on PC.
5) Execute update.exe.
6) Press "y" for yes.
7) Enable graphics card driver in Device Manager.
8) Reboot off PC.

Flash Slave BIOS
1) Disable graphics card driver in Device Manager.
2) Power off PC.
3) Move BIOS switch to "Slave" mode.
4) Power on PC.
5) Execute update.exe.
6) Press "y" for yes.
7) Enable graphics card driver in Device Manager.
8) Reboot off PC.

It was suggested not to look around for updated BIOS files because the BIOS does not need to be updated under normal circumstances.
(That's a general recommendation from tech support--separate from what this thread is about).

I figured things out, after using the updated links I was able to flash my card with no issues.

Sajin,

How do I test if the card will now be able to hit the 127% power figure? I tried using superspostion 4k optimized and the power did exceed 117% (it hit 120% a few times) but it kept fluctuating up and down. Should I use K Boost in XOC to lock voltages? Any other thing I may be missing? Anyway, it doesn't appear the bios helped at all looking at the graphs below.

Any advice, maybe I flashed the default .rom? I did use the link for the 6696 card in the OP and followed everything to the letter.

No problem. Looks like you already hit 127%, but the best way to do it would be to overclock the card to the max stable clocks on the core & memory then run the unigine superposition benchmark on the 8k optimized preset.

I ran Furmark for a 5 minute test (my card is using the water cooling kit so no worries - only hit 59*C) and the power was consistent between 124%-126% with a peak spike of 131W. It seems the bios is fine and I'm happier now!

When I run Secondary.exe it quickly disappears. It said something about "error accessing denied" I even tried nvflash64 --protectoff, and the secondary.exe, to no avail. I do have a motherboard with 2 PLX chips. Nvflash promted me to select which card to proctoff. When secondary.exe is put in compatibility mode (windows 8) it works, but never flashes anything.
8k superposition has total power going down/up to a maximum of 119%

Is the 8K optimized preset less strenuous than manually adjusting those to the highest setting? I mean, is 8K the best to use because it is the most stress or pick it because it's the quickest/easiest to select?

It's just the one I recommend using. You could even use furmark to see if you'll power throttle correctly.

You don't want it to look like this...

You want it to read 126-127% instead of 117% as shown in the picture.

Re: 1080 TI FTW3 watercooled Slave BIOS doesn't go over 117% 2019/02/17 13:13:10 (permalink)
It works now! I ran secondary.exe as an administrator with "compatibility windows 7" . My vbios now reads 86.02.39.01.91, and not 86.02.39.01.90. Furmark now reads 126-127

The reason it said access denied before, was that it was still trying to grap devices attached to the PLX chip, there were none, but either way, it did not gain access.
