Hello,

after 2 weeks waiting i just got my new GTX 780 SC ACX.
after i booted into windows i noticed slightly rattling noises from the fan.
after playing a game when exiting back to windows i also noticed often louder fan noises (rattling or grinding type)
i bought this card because it was supposed to be with the less noisiest cooling solution.
I previously had a GTX680 from EVGA whoch never made such noises.
What can i do now:
1. return to my etailer and buy a new one(bad option because availability is still very bad for this card)
2. go through RMA with etailer or vega (how long will this take??)
3. wait and see if the noises maybe go away?

any ideas?

Regards,
P.

Mine has bad resonance. If I increase the fan speed using Precision to 43-44% the noise drops to tolerable. I've had the card for a week, I'm waiting for the fan speed update that will allow us to go to 33%. If that does not fix it, or the noise does not improve, I'll be returning the card to my retailer. This card costs way too much to have this sort of problem IMO. Sadly, I love everything else about it.

Maybe a stupid question but did you remember to remove the clear plastic film from the card around the fans?

Just wanted to add that i'm having EXACTLY the same issue as described here.
    780 SC ACX
When i boot into windows and i'm just idling at desktop, there is a very irritating and very noticable rattle coming from the fan nearest the power connectors on the card.

This fan is idling at 39%, if i set it to 41% or above then the rattling disappears.

Is there any way to edit the bios to 41% the minimum fan speed ?

Install Precision... set fan profile minimum to 41% or higher.

I have exactly the same problem!! resonance at 39% fan speed
I fixed it by setting min fan speed at 41% via precision software, but there is a second resonance sound around 52% fan speed.
This is just unacceptable for such an expensive product!

One of my 780 Classified does the same thing, raising fan speed makes it go away.  Watercooling them so not a big deal to me, but when i was using them, it was pretty irritating.

I wonder if you can actually RMA it when you have fan noise @ 36% and it goes away @ 41% tbh.

when you pay 50 EUR more for an advanced quiet cooler, i actually want it to be quiet...
So when EVGA has a remake of their ACX cooler, I want that RMA...

I notice the fan noise with my classify as well. It only happens when the fan gets to be around 45 or 46%, but the it only last for several seconds since games push the gpu so it goes quickly above the fan 45% fan curve or not require as much gpu power and remains at 40% fan speed. I do not consider the noise an issue.

I have the bad resonance problem as well on the 780 SC ACX  . And this is the 2nd card I got (first was RMA'd with this problem).

Will be buying a 3rd party cooler and never another EVGA product again. 650 euros and rubbish fans  Couldn't even sell this on to someone 2nd hand in good faith.

    I got the Classified.
I get resonance vibration at 70%.
But if i set fan profile to skip that then its no problem.
    However.
The fan motor noise is a bit anoying above 65%....obviosly playing games the fan speed is aroun the 75% mark. The woosh of air sound is all i expected to get..this motor sound is not wanted but i got lucky with the silicon lottery and got a good ASIC 87.9% and a good out ofthe box clock of 1163mhz so im inclined to deal with it. Specialy if its a widely experianced ...issue ? ..maybe its just how they are.

Yep...air whoosh is as expected. That I can deal with.
The immensely irritating resonance which is present on my card at many differing speeds is a different thing altogether.

I will be reinstalling my nice and quiet Gigabyte Windforce 3x GTX 670 and using the 780 ACX thing as a doorstop until I find an aftermarket cooler.

I have to retract my previous statement about the noise. The noise becomes quite irritating after a while especially since I have been less demanding games, so it has been constant. Anyone have an idea how widespread this issue is?

I also have this on my 780 classified in some rpm.....but when i put my finger on the plastic near the fans it stops....can it be a screw not tight enough?I will investigate this further.

someone has seen if the screws are tight?

    Ps: this 780 classified...is a beast

Hmm, I think I have this too on my classy. Is the noise sorta like ticking, resembling the noise a mechanical disk can make?

    Hi all.

I need all you Classified owners opinion on this vid i made.
    http://sdrv.ms/14SQLRg

its bassicaly for you to hear the noise of the ACX cooler.

The EU EVGA customer service rep iv spoke to by email says it is a little noisier than it should be. But i want more peoples perspective.
If i RMA, ill have to roll the dice on the Silicon lottery again, and ill have to pay to ship it form the UK to germany.

My current GPU ASIC is 87.9 and the out of the box clock is 1163mhz at 1.162mv on the core.

BTW you might want to wear headphone and turn the volume up to hear it properly, i only have an old SD digital camcorder at my disposal :P

I just saw the video...mine does the same thing too.... i have pinpoited the noise to fan that is near to the front of the case.....i think if i adjust the fan screws it can be solved.... Can you tri to put your finger in the fan (whem its making the noise) and tell me if the noise stops.....just touch it in THE CENTER OF THE FAN(do not stop the fan) .

Humm...they are the screws that hold the fan to the heatsink. Power down your pc an look at the fan...you will see 3 screws there...try to adjust them.
