Re:Bugs and Suggestions 2009/10/21 22:36:37 (permalink)
I like this new forum it's definitely better than the old one. .

Some thing I'd like to see added:

1. I'd like to see the "Todays Posts" tab taken out of the sub menu and put on the main menu.

2. Move the "Recent posts" tab from the profile, and put in the user drop down menu.

3.I'd like to see the threads that I do click open in the current window/tab I'm in and not open another window/tab when I click on a thread.

And I'm just adding another vote for a slight color scheme change. I don't mind the gray borders, but the actual message boxes are really bright, and there's no border of any kind between posts.

Also still think the # of post next to the forums should be changed to # of threads.
# of post in a specific forum seems like a entirely useless piece of information.

If you click it, it gives you a pop-up URL for that particular comment, which is handy. I suppose it could just say "link" instead of a number, but it's six of one, half a dozen of the other imo.

My bad I didn't describe what I meant, I mean the # of post in the picture below.

PS - Another possible bug, when previewing a post with a attachment image the image doesn't show in the preview.

1.  Will folding points automatically be added to both forum profiles when they are updated?
2.  Why is my post count on the Beta forums lower than my count on the standard forums?  I just posted in the standard forum...does that automatically update the post count in the Beta?
3.  How do you hide your post count and folding points, if you choose to do so?

1- Folding points pull from the same database
2- Post counts will be different as they are different databases
3- Read the announcement

Thank you for the answers.  Will the correct post count be transferred from the standard forums to the Beta forums when the standard one is shut down?

I'd like to recommend having a more defined separation between each post - like a darker color (as with the older forums) - it gets a little hard to tell where one post stops and another starts here at times.

Re:Bugs and Suggestions 2009/10/23 02:14:25 (permalink)
Suggestion: Separate the WTB and Price Check into separate forums. Seems kind of backward to separate out the sale to try and make it organize but have those 2 grouped together still causing needless clutter.

Clumping them together causes clutter and now that everyone can easy hide separate forums in your control panel there are Zero Benefits from putting them in one forum.

I try to emphasize this because in general it seems suggestion are just being over ignored/overshadowed by bugs. And obviously bug need to get fixed but... ya I think you understand what I'm saying

Bugs:
1. When you type in quick reply then click (Open Full Version) the text in your quick reply does not carry over to the full editer.
2. Preview for quick reply does not display currently at all, sometimes puts out nothing but "undefined".
3. Using the preview the preview feature in any way and then closing the preview causes your entire tab to go blank, while loosing whatever you already typed. So far this only happens in the Marketplace, possibly tied to the marketplace user group.
4. The hyperlink button seems incredibly buggy as sometimes the text option for a link is grayed out and some times it works. I can't seem to find any pattern to why this happens
5. Images are broke in the attach image section of a post, the image will still work if put in the actual text of the post with the attachment= tag, like so -
6. attachment= tags don't work in previews
7.

The forum seems to run a bit slow and less responsive than the older one. Is it due to it being on a lower bandwidth server ATM or something?

EDIT: For some reason I need to click the "Previous page"-button in the Opera 10 browser twice before it actually goes to the previous page. Only happening on these beta forums :&

Can you add a <General Software> section at the bottom of the software section, for problems not relating to an OS??

Theres that suggestion ^^^^^^ and another suggestion would be to separate the general discussion section into two pieces, one for PC related stuff, and one catch all (non-PC), for all the other internet weirdness that we like to have so much fun with

I thought evga was going to actually do something about signatures.
Allow 750 characters is way too much, you can take up half a page with some users signature and it doesn't limit how many pictures you can have in it.

I know we can block ALL signatures but there needs to be some kind of rules to keep users signatures in check.  Does some users think everyone else likes seeing a billboard of pictures.

They need to check signature by the actual pixel x pixel amount(On a standardized resolution such as 1280x1024) it takes up on a screen not by # of characters. Alot of modern forums do this by default or atleast have a billion add-ons to do this, but I don't think its possible with this forum software.

I've always wanted to see a "General Software" forum under [Software], just as there is a "General Hardware" forum under [Computer Hardware].

Several times I've wanted to post about an app other than an OS & ended up putting it in "General Discussion", where it quickly gets buried by the debris of  that high traffic forum.

As it is now you might as well rename [Software] to [Operating Systems].

I dont know if this has been posted already, but i have a small problem. When i open a tab with this forum (its favorited), it shows all of the topics, even though i have some blocked. I then just click on "User Control Panel" then click the all forums link near the top left, an the forums i have selected to disappear, disappear. This problem isn't huge, but it is fairly annoying having to do what i said every time i come here.

Somebody drop me line and explain why this is not working. The max on the original forum is 1000 characters, so there is no reason why my sig should not work. I even cut it down and it still will not wrok.

Max is 750 characters here, including spaces I believe. I used photoshop to put my PC stats onto an image (see my sig) so no worries with the limit now.

changed a link in my sig and save and doesn't show up changed still the old one, if it's a over the word count would be nice to know when you go over because it really doesn't tell you and I'm not going to count all those letters.

One thing I noticed about the sig transfer is it's got a 750 limited but it's kind'a sensitive to any kind of control characters it doesn't recognize - even from the old forum.

When my sig got transferred over, I kept getting the 750 character max message when I tryied to modify my beta profile. I thought it was actually the number of characters in my sig. But finally, when I copied the entire string from the old forum into notepad and pasted it into the new profile there was no issue.
