In other news.

My mini-review here:

My Panel has Zero Dead/Bright Pixels, it's quite nice in that respect.
The Swift and my K|NGP|N 780 Ti get along very well
The Turbo Button if pressed twice in a row, will usually switch your refresh rate immediately, some people perceived lag, however that does the trick for me
G-sync activates automatically for me, I didn't need to uninstall or upgrade and drivers at all
Precision recognizes and works well with the monitor as well

BattleField 4, Assassins Creed and Diablo all run flawlessly for me
60-120 FPS for BF4, Assassin's creed 60 FPS, Diablo 144 capped at refresh I believe
All on Ultra of course

Surprisingly G-Sync is the most noticable in Diablo 3, as there are larger frame rate variances versus BF4 which ran fluidly before G-Sync.

...
This thing is incredible. BF4 at 2560x1440 on ultra was in the 80-120 FPS range. Gsync smoothes the crap out of battlefield 4 lol.
...

you get with a single GTX780Ti?

I did some BF4 (64bit) testing on my Swift.  Running at the native 1440P res and 144Hz.  Keep in mind this is running the SP campaign.

With everything set to Ultra, 4x MSAA, and AO at HBAO,  I was pretty steady between 80 and 90 FPS.  I did see dips fairly regularly down in the high 50's to low 60's as well as jumps up in the lower 100's.

When I turned AA off leaving all else at Ultra and HBAO, I was seeing pretty steady FPS between 85 - 95 with dips in the low 70's, jumps to 110 - 115 FPS.

The best settings I found with very little in the way of dips were these.  No AA, AO on HBAO and everything on Ultra except Texture Filtering, Post Proc, and Terrain Decoration all set to "High".  This gave me a real steady average FPS between 95 & 105.  Rare dips to 90, a lot of jumps to 120+ FPS.

Yes I was also getting pretty much what you experienced, I just accounted for a realistic range
I saw 80-120 however I think is dipped and spiked a few times as well
No matter really, it runs very well on a single 780 ti regardless

I just filled out a Newegg survey on this monitor.  I guess it is up for a Newegg Customer Choice Award.

If you are looking for one of these still, and have a Fry's near you, I hear that some locations may have 1 or 2.

And I agree, a gsync forum would be good.  Nvidia is pushing the tech, and a lot of monitors are coming out.  It would make a great central area for all of us to work together, trouble shoot and find out some good tips and tricks.

So i just tried Far Cry 3 as well as Metro LL.  Getting horrid stutter.  It appears to be g sync SLI  related.  Monitor and drivers are at 144 hz.  Any thoughts>

I agree.  I'm very pleased with how well the single 780Ti works.  I've been waiting for this monitor to see if I was going to go SLI with another 780Ti or be able to hold off until the 980Ti's arrive...

I really think the next driver or two will solve most if not all of this type of issue.  Just my hunch and 2 cents worth...

SLI still is SLI and still has it's issues for some users.

Gsync work great(not perfect) in SLI for me and I do see that Gsync works better  in single card then it does in SLI. This isn't a Gsync thing this is still an SLI thing. I use to use SLI with Vsync for years and always had to do the alt+tab thing and mess around in NVinspector. I gave up and just started turning V-sync off and had a not a better experience but a easier experience in SLI.

I with you on that Bdary. I think Nvidia will sort out SLI kinks with Gsync.

I do see a night n day difference in a couple games when it comes to SLI/Gsync

Linchdom battle mage (Cryengine 3)  way way smoother feeling and looking in single card setups.

Crysis 3 and star citizen AC (both cryengine 3) SLI is not as smooth as single card.

I since these game run on cryengine I'm thinking that engine doesn't like SLI. I have no issue running SLI with Vsync off, but turn Vsync on or Gsync I really notice the un-smoothness in the lower FPS range where as with a single card in say the same 40fps range completely different experience, super smooth.

try ALT+tab to desktop then back into game.

metro LL i don't have to do that with but Crysis3 and other cryengine 3 titles I have to.

TigerDirect and newegg are still backordered. Any recommendations of a site I may be able to purchase it from?  I am on preorder at tigerdirect but they do not know when they will get more in stock.

Amazon shows they'll be in stock on Sept 29th.  But the advertised price is quite high in my opinion.  >>  http://www.amazon.com/PG278Q-27-Inch-Screen-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00MSOND8C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410200174&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+rog+swift+pg278q

That specific listing is from a 3rd party seller "DEC Trader", not sold or fulfilled by Amazon itself hence the marked up price.

Quality of problems! I wish I had one! Does anyone think an IPS version will be out with the same features in more than or less than a year?

If you're referring to the reviews from the link I posted above, no, I haven't seen or experienced anything mentioned in the CONS comments.  One of them is user not understanding.  The one where the guy says when using the turbo button he only gets a choice between 60 - 120 - 144Hz.  That's how it's supposed to be with Gsync.  With Gsync disabled, you can select 60 - 85 - 100 - 120 - 144 in the NVCPL just like any non Gsync monitor.

You can read about the problems here. SLI & G-Sync: Some users have experienced a stutter in some games when using SLI & G-Sync. The next nvidia driver should help correct the stutter seen by some users.

Check out the 4th review by Jerry C.  It's pretty comprehensive and written about as objectively as one could I believe.  He gave the monitor only 3 eggs and explains in detail why. This being the most negative review available I believe it's written in a fair enough fashion to explain the major drawbacks without scary a potential buyer away but more so making you "ready" for any potential disappointments for a monitor of this price and caliber.

To save you time I'm copying and pasting the part most relevant to your question:
"-SLI problems. As an addition to the driver issues seen above, users are seeing more problems with SLI as they add another layer of potential driver failure. I've been a happy user of SLI for years now, but the problems I've experienced with G-Sync and 3D Vision using this panel have me leaning strongly towards a single fast GPU again for my next upgrade. Issues range from: less fluid G-Sync experience, crashing, out-of-range errors, no image, hard lock no image (requiring power cycle). For me at least, reverting to just single-GPU fixed most of the problems (Diablo 3 SLI, 3D Vision), while some titles worked fine with SLI and 3D Vision (Borderlands 2, BF4)."

From his description, it sounds like he's talking about the combination of SLI while running 3D vision...

This monitor is absolutely insane... So easy to set up. My rig is in my sig for reference. BF4, buttery smooth. Im going to have to learn to snipe again. Even with the hardcore drops during massive gunfights/explosions.... gsync is amazing. World of Warcraft has a brand new feeling to it as well. Those are the only 2 games I have on my machine now.. but I'm going to redownload pretty much everything else and play again. Definitely worth the buy. No issues on my end in SLI/Gsync turning off.

How is SLI doing for you with Gsync? any stuttering or weird anomalies?
