Cheers....must stop playing with the on/off button and joystick! ;-)
A quality 1.5 yr old 700W PSU (be quiet Straight Power) should be enough for 970 sli, 1 ssd and cd writer I reckon?
Read somewhere (probably in this thread) that SLI + G-sync may be temperamental - do people still have issues with g-sync running in sli?

Mine just shipped! I ordered two sort of on accident. Put my first order in on Bestbuy.com and it took a couple days to getting a confirmation and I was worried they just put me on backorder instead. Meanwhile, Amazon got 2 in stock and I was able to snag one. Just got an email yesterday that Amazon will be here Tuesday and BBY Friday. lol I guess I can join the price gouging online and sell one. Make a couple hundred bucks. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS MONITOR!!!!!!

After using mine for a few days, I can't get past this matte coating. I've been spoiled by IPS glossy panels and this Swift just looks too grainy for my tastes :( I may end up selling mine as well.

As far as features go, this thing is top notch, but this "haze" is just something I don't think I can get over. The colors are also way too washed out from the get go. I had to turn brightness down, adjust the gamma a significant amount and also work with the contrast to get this thing looking halfway decent (again, my personal opinion.)

G-Sync is soooo smooth that it pains me this has to be a TN panel with a matte finish. If they offered a glossy model, I'd be all over it in a heartbeat. I've thought about removing the matte coating, but from what I've read it leaves the panel completely unprotected and I'd hate to scratch the hell out of it just trying to clean it from time to time :(

I'm coming from a Samsung XL2370 so I'm hoping this monitor will blow me away to begin with. I've had a matte finish for awhile and actually prefer it since I have window besides me. I'll have mine tomorrow. I wish the ROG Swift had support for consoles too, but oh well. I'll keep the Samsung for my PS3. Any suggestions of things to adjust out of the box or things to like out for? I plan on doing a clean driver install when I hook it up.

From what i gather, if it was on a IPS monitor, gsync would not look anywhere near this smooth, as IPS are no where near the fluidity and clarity of TN.
As for the matte vs shiny, the only shiny screen i have is my LED TV. All my computer monitors have always been matte, so it doesn't bother me. There should be a choice though, i agree.

Initially I had the same reaction. I seriously considered returning the monitor. But after adjusting the gamma and brightness, and using it for 2 weeks now, I am completely used to the matte finish. So maybe give it another week or so? You may have a change of mind.

I'm with you on the glossy, wish they made glossy and have others add film if they want :P As seen in sig I had film removed from my monitors. I haven't had a problem with scratching, just make sure you use the right cloth for it (I use the one that came with my plasma) and I use distilled water.

Yep, I contacted that Vega guy yesterday, but he's deployed currently. It doesn't look like it's all that bad to do honestly, just not sure if I trust myself to waste $800 by messing up lol.

I'm definitely gonna give it some time. Today I cloned my screens so I could see a live difference and man... it's night and day with G-Sync on. The Swift just destroys these Yamakasi's as far as clarity and smoothness. The color actually isn't too bad now either, since I adjusted it. It just sucks that the settings won't STICK properly in the NVCPL. They REALLY need to fix that, or work in an override or something. This panel is far too washed out straight out of the box, mostly because of brightness, but also the gamma and contrast needed heavy adjustment, at least in my case.

I'm currently running mine at 60 brightness, 50 contrast and I have the gamma shifted down to .80 in the NVCPL for the desktop. It looks fantastic like that, but the minute you load up a game, boom, lost my gamma :( You can get around that by playing in a fullscreen window, but guess what doesn't work unless the game is fullscreen. That's right, G-Sync lol. I knew that beforehand, I just didn't anticipate how desaturated the colors would be out of the box.

And yes, I also know that IPS simply couldn't do what the Swift does, but a man can dream lol. I've been playing some Vanishing of Ethan Carter and it's just beautiful on the Swift. Out of the games I was able to test out, Star Citizen made the biggest impression on me. There's just no denying the smoothness G-Sync offers. Maybe if my monitor doesn't begin to exhibit the problems others have seen after a few weeks, I'll get this matte coating removed and see how I like it then :)

Since it's been a little while for this ASUS now -  what's the consensus ?  Is it worth twice the cost of getting an Overlord Tempest X270OC   ??

I really considering tax time money going to the Tempest....

ASUS makes a good monitor and I won't deny that. I don't have any personal faith in their customer support so I would much prefer the Overlord Tempest. Another problem there is that the overlord tempest monitors are almost always sold out.

So an alternate choice is a QNIX or another Korean made monitor from a brand I would trust.

If I had to buy a 2K monitor right now I'd buy another QNIX and overclock it.

Whatever model you decide to purchase read about it thoroughly, check reviews, and complaints.

I haven't personally seen the Overlord X270OC.  Both the Tempest & the Swift are 1440P displays, both are native 8 bit panels, and both are 27".  After that is where a lot of the specs vary.  To name a few:

The Tempest is native 60Hz and will most likely be able to OC up to 120Hz.  The Swift is native 144Hz.
Response time GTG is 1ms for the Swift, 6ms for the Tempest.
The viewing angle is slightly better on the Tempest.
Then there's the Gsync difference.  If you haven't ever seen or used Gsync in person, you won't really know what you're missing.  Personally, after seeing & using Gsync for gaming, I could never go back to a non Gsync monitor.

I also really like the super thin bezel on the Swift.

Is it worth the extra $350 bucks for the Swift?  Only you could determine that.  I have really enjoyed my Swift & have no regrets spending the $800 bucks for it.

Based on the resolution the swift is the best out there as forum member bdary points out but if you don't have that kind of cash try to get a tempest. Here's a not so old list:

I feel the same as bdary. After having used g-sync, there's no way I can go back to a monitor without it (or a replacement technology lol). It's just an entirely different world for game smoothness. I checked out Star Citizen on the Swift and my Yamakasi q270 at the same time (duplicate monitor setting in the control panel) and good lord... playing on the Swift and then immediately looking at the Yamakasi and playing felt HORRIBLE. It's not something I believe I'd have noticed otherwise, but now that I've seen the difference, it's night and day.

I saw that OC Tempest has a 1440P G-sync 27" monitor slated for 2015 but with no release date and the price I saw was $659. I'd rather that than the price of the Asus monitor, but sometime next year doesn't appeal to me and the price point is not that much less than the Asus.

It may be a niche market right now, but Asus hit the nail on the head with this product and nobody's been able to step up with anything comparable, meaning all the same features, for 3 months now? I'd love it if more companies did, but I don't feel like waiting 6 months to a year for a maybe.

I just now bought the XB280HK, I hope I don't regret it, just wish it was 120hz. Been looking at it for a little while. Then I went to Costco and they had a 4k 75" on display, I started to drool as it was the 1st time I saw 4K, so I came back and noticed Amazon had three XB280HK left (all gone now). Dang, I wish some of this 4K tv's had G-synce.

They would all need display port, and console makers don't seem to care for anything above 30 fps. Gotta start somewhere.. Consoles have to matter in the big world before that adoption happens. When that happens, I will buy a console.

ILikeBeans

You take me too serious, although I thought the new consoles ran at 60...not that I would know, or care.

Incorrect, I knew what you meant... I do wish consoles were better is all I am getting at. Display port, 4k.. Hell 1440p would even be nice. Nope... Nothing amazing...

The 60fps thing I am not sure about... I don't really pat attention to them after a bad time with 360 and PS3. I like my KB&M now... I still have to use controller to fly.

Seeing as this monitor ( ROG) is not selling for anything less than $1200 & higher  everywhere I see it - definite NO buy -   until it comes back down to a semi-reasonable price of $850 or so....

Newegg has it listed for $799, same as the initial offering price.  Although they show it out of stock...

Thanks for the update!  I've been patiently waiting a couple of months to pick one up!
