Why so many "'P's" .....
I'd suggest looking at the wattages in each Platinum series. There is some overlap, but most of the power supplies hit different wattages by series to avoid competing with each other.

I thought about it more and was wondering if it was to designate the different makes/ versions from different manufacturers .?

I really like my many EVGA P2 1200W PSU ... they are big ... this new smaller size might be what those building in less that full tower cases need

Are the modular cables pin compatible with the previous SuperNOVA P2 power supplies? Or would I have to rewire my case?

Pinouts are the same. You can reuse the cables from P2.

I can find very little on them as an ODM other than Cougar PSU's  Now I know this is EVGA but this is still disappointing news. Guess I will wait until some reviews start popping up before passing judgement.

Thanks, yes I did look at the pictures, I know the visual differences. Also, I know that the P6 is more on the compact side but I was wondering if there are any other technical differences between the P3 and the P6 1000w PSUs

As I said in another thread its hard to tell which are the better units without reviews, cant go by the model #'s thats for sure. Also not familiar with HEC as an OEM but I would have liked to see
a more well known "proven" manufacturer on the newer units. Where are all the power supply reviewers when you need them. EVGA start sending some units out for review so you can take our money.
Surely you are confident about the results?

Just installed my P3. No issues and booted right up. My OCP tripping issue from my Prime PX-1kw are now gone. Eco mode has been on but the fan is quiet with eco mode off. Coming from a Seasonic Prime Ultra 1kw, there is definitely a loss in aesthetics. I am excited that EVGA included 16AWG EPS cables and a pair of 16AWG PCIe cables though as all of SSs cables are 18awg. Now for the true test to see what happens in the next few months... but so far so good...

I have noted that some EVGA power supplies are a tad bigger than some competitors
The again I use EATX boxes or mid tower with bottom mounted PSUs so it's not the old top mounted PSU models presented
  Corsair Obsidian 750D Airflow Edition + Corsair AX1600i PSUMy desktop uses the ThinkVision 31.5 inch P32p-20 Monitor.My sound system is the Edifier B1700BT

Dont know if this the right place for this but I'm trying to build my pc, (Yay, Christmas!) And ran into this with my motherboard. It has a 4 and 8 pin ATX 12v and non of the cables that come with the P3 fit. It came with 2 CPU cables that are 4+4 but dont fit the motherboard. I guess the 4pin is optional but says to ensure the 8 pin power plug is connected. So is there a power cable I can buy that will work well with the P3 and motherboard? The mb is an asus strix z690-G
