It is not the OCZ model of RAM that you purchased that is potentially the problem, it is that for some folks, OCZ RAM period does not play well with the 790i chipset, therefore, there is no OCZ RAM that I can recommend for your board.

Or, you could run the 2000Mhz RAM at lower timings and voltage...I do...I run them at 1700Mhz linked and synced @ 1.6v. Forgot to add, also at tighter timings...FYI - Check the 3,000 post thread, you misunderstood what I was saying.

To support what VH said about OCZ, I have a Q6600 machine with OCZmemory that tests stable but will freeze occasionally. We here have pretty much tried everything and it will still occasionally freeze for no apparrent reason. I always blamed those particular sticks of memory, and not OCZ in general. I generally liked OCZ products, have a few of their power supplys, CPU heatsinks, RAM, etc.. I decided to get some RAM for the system below (in my sig) since I have always wanted to run the memory Linked & Synced but my wonderful Mushkin memory is only 1600 and cannot get to 1800. So I check around and find some OCZ 1866 memory for a decent price and have it shipped for Christmas. I install and slightly underclock the memory with everything at stock and guess what ... NO POST. Switch to 2T and it will POST but lasts about 5 seconds into Prime blend. Yea ... 5 seconds. It will pass Memtest but that is about it. I contact OCZ and they give me some recommendations that I try unsuccessfully. They give me several more sets of settings to "TRY" (some of them are in-depth and extreme) but none are successful at getting the 1866 memory to run at 1800 and pass Prime for more than a few seconds. Even loosening the timing more will not give me more than a few seconds into Prime. Since the sticks pass memtest, I have reached the conclusion that OCZ and the 790i just don't play well together period. They likely make good memory, just keep it away from your 790. I am now trying to convince the reseller to exchange the OCZ for the Patriot that VH and others have used with good results.

You will need to check out VH"s post # 22 for current choices. I am thrilled with my Mushkin 996601, they are very similar to the Mushkin in VH's post but mine are no longer available. Mine are 7-7-6-18-1T at 1.85-1.9v 1600mhz. They will OC to about 1700 but will not take me to 1800. The good part is they dropped in and ran at the rated speed and voltage without any drama or adjustments needed.

let me Explain why i have trouble buying rams Online
i don't live in USA or UK so when it comes to buy things Online there are limited companies that offers buying and shipping to ur home (ShopShip servers)
in my case the company I deal with which is the best (it actually sucks but it is the best around ) only deals with limited Online Shopping Site and newegg is supported but not fully (hahahaha)

I changed The CPU Core voltage from 1.4 to 1.225 (as u recommended ) then yesterday i was playing L4D2 then the game Freezed on me so i Hard Quit the game then suddenly the screen shows coloured dots (GPU)....!!
and today i was watching youtube video then PC froze and lockup on me (the old freeze that require pc hard restart )
I raised the CPU Core Voltage to 1.3..

OK when I said CPU Core voltage i actually meant FSB v
so FSB v 1.4--> 1.2 = freeze
1.2--->1.3 = freeze
1.3--->1.4 = freeze again ( it was stable)
i raised the mem voltage from 1.90 to 1.97 so we well see

OK about the mem voltage
is there a difference between 1.90v and 1.95v or 1.97v
some sites state this ram as 1.9 and other at 1.95
I never tested it at 1.95

The OCZ is the problem really. Alot of ppl reported freezing problems with OCZ mem. Yo need to push it to around 2.1 for it to half way act right. Most ppl just got new mem to solve the problem.

I use OCZ memory (see my sig) and have it running stable. Had it running stable at 1800MHz (9-9-9-30 2T 1.95v) and 1600MHz (8-7-7-24 2T 1.8v), both linked and synced. These are SLI-ready EPP 2.0 sticks. I don't run video games so other than running IBT to stress test, I don't normally stress my system. thorne

Why don't you flash to the latest BIOS version anyway, it can hurt. Try your RAM at 2.1v as suggested, it is a 1/10 of a volt higher than 2.0v. You are running at stock speed with good settings, you should not be freezing, so IMO it is the RAM or video card drivers causing the problem. Did you try an earlier version driver as I recommended in post #59? You need to try these changes one at a time so that you can know what change alleviated the problem. What I would do in the following order is: 1. Flash your BIOS to the latest version using the CD, floppy, or USB flash drive method. 2. Try an earlier version video card driver. The following link is the Nvidia archived driver link. http://www.nvidia.com/Dow.oad/Find.aspx?lang=en-us 3. Try running your RAM at 2.1v.

 I have the ultra and the same ram as VistaHead. I have a mem controller issue that VistaHead has been helping me with and my board is going back for a holiday at EVGA When mine is working this ram and system is unreal...it flys. I would recomend this ram (Patriot Viper 4GB (2X2GB) PVS34G2000LLKN) in this board or any 790i version. My guess would be that if you were to get hold of it somewhere....your problems may well vamoooos

I have the ultra and the same ram as VistaHead. I have a mem controller issue that VistaHead has been helping me with and my board is going back for a holiday at EVGA
When mine is working this ram and system is unreal...it flys. I would recomend this ram (Patriot Viper 4GB (2X2GB) PVS34G2000LLKN) in this board or any 790i version. My guess would be that if you were to get hold of it somewhere....your problems may well vamoooos
