Place both of the below settings on auto.  If that does not work, I am out of ideas, other then IMHO, you need new RAM.

What voltage settings are you using?

Where do I get instructions to set up all the bios data? I have the installation manual for the mb, but many of the inputs don't have instructions on what should be entered and I don't know if they are correct. I've got a 790i, win7 ult 64 bit, 4gb Corsair 1333-9-9-9-24 ram, dual EVGA 8800gt, intel Q6600 at 2.4 and 1067, two Seagate SATA 500s, two HP 2207 lcds and one Viewsonic w2235 lcd. I also use the PC as the main internet connection and pass the second connection to a router which connects two other pcs and a PS3. I think the voltages are all set up properly and I've not considered overclocking yet.

Problem: my pc freezes up with win7 64 ultimate much more than with win vista home premium 32 bit did. I bought the win 7 because of the freeze ups, but after one overnight it was frozen in the am. Then the freezing continued. Updated the bios and video cards, but still freezing up. Did a stress test and that freezes too after a while. If its all about the settings in the bios, where can I learn more about these critical requirements? Could the CPU at 1067 be miss-matched with the RAM at 1333? I think the memory needs to be at 2T rather than whatever it is now. I'll be posting more later but appreciate any advice now.

Also, my time in front of the PC is getting shorter as my wife feels she's lost me to the PC, so any quick fixes

Once upon a time I too had problems like this. I was told to scoff at my OCZ RAM.

Funny thing is that that same RAM kit has been in 3 other systems. One system was a P55. Two other systems worked flawlessly, too. Both DFI. One X48. One P45. Both LP UT T3RS. Both rock solid with the very RAM that was all the "trouble" I had with my Nvidia 790i Ultra Chipset.

Seriously, the junk 7x0i chipsets need to be retired. Get an X58 or P55 already. Or X48 or P45 if you still want to keep your CPU and RAM and run SLI via hacked SLI drivers.

Once you have done that, you'll forget that these support forums exist. Your life will be that much easier.

You'll never have to start a 7 page thread for hunting ghosts on a mobo that should have never been developed for a GTL+ design FSB.

Nuff said.
