What version did you try?

186.18

Try versions 190.38 or 190.62
Download Driver Sweeper, but do not run it.
Download the driver version that you want to install, but do not install them.
Uninstall your current drivers through Device Manager (located in your Control Panel)
Boot into safe mode.
Run Driver Sweeper and remove any video card drivers left (do not remove your chipset drivers).
Reboot, and install the drivers that you downloaded
Do this every time that you install a different set of video card drivers.

Okay... First...

First I noticed your auto advanced timings are definitely causing instability...

First I noticed your tRC...
    * tRC Timing: Row Cycle Time. The minimum time in cycles it takes a row to complete a full cycle. This can be determined by; tRC = tRAS + tRP. If this is set too short it can cause corruption of data and if it is to high, it will cause a loss in performance, but increase stability.

So your tRC should be atleast 31...

The rest should be okay. I never went past 1.95v on this memory cause it was not stable at 1.9 while OCing, but I tried 1.975 & 2.0 but I was getting freezes... I had two sticks also...

SPP voltage being too low was another cause for my freezes. But you should be alright @ 1.42 cause your only using 1333 FSB, one stick of memory & one video card... But maybe try to put it at 1.47 or whatever one bump up is & see if your freezes go away.

Next, Vista...

I keep hearing you say keep P1 & P2 on auto for stock clocks & enabled if OCing. It is not like that from what I understand from the research I have done the past almost year since these settings came about. P1 & P2 came into effect in P04 bios. Pretty much these settings are switches, while enabled It tightens specific timings within the SPP & memory. That's why an increase to SPP votage is necessary to enable these settings & maintain stability.

Not sure why I am quoting this, as evga or maybe it was nvidias mistake, but there is a huge contradiction in this quote...

*The new P04 BIOS includes two new options that can boost memory performance. These options control internal timing parameters. These options can give a boost to performance at higher FSB and DDR speeds. A setting of "Auto" gives you the best overclocking possible. A setting of "Enabled" gives you the best performance possible.

But these are the most important parts...
A setting of "Auto" gives you the best overclocking possible.
A setting of "Enabled" gives you the best performance possible.

Auto relaxes chipset & memory timings = more stability but less performance.
Enabled tightens chipset & memory timings = more performance but less stability.

Here is an example of a memory bench with P1 & P2 on auto, then enabled... These are the only changes made to bios...

P1 & P2 on AUTO

P1 & P2 on ENABLED

Yes, I remember that thread from the old forums, but what I have been noticing is that a few members that only wanted to run stock had problems with P1 & P2 enabled, but once they went to back to auto, the problems went away.  Normally, I will have the member use auto, and if a problem persists, I have them change to enabled.  That thread not withstanding, sometimes with P1 & P2, it seems to be a crap shoot.  I can't disagree with the chart that you provide above, but it does not seem to apply across the board.  Perhaps it is dependent on the brand of RAM being used in conjunction with the FSB of the chip that is being used....I don't know, but I do know that following that thread does not always work for an individual...kind of like the OCZ RAM thing.....

first thank you for your reply
so i should increase tRc from 27 to 31
and bump up the voltage little bit

then i will do after testing the 190.68 driver

I would at least change the tRC, as having it too low can cause errors & corruption of data. If I was you I would Put P1 & P2 to enabled & bump the SPP voltage up a notch then test. But that is just me, in fact, I would be running 1600 link/sync if it was me... lol  I run my OCZ's in my server @ 1600 with P1 & P2 enabled @ 1.95v 7-7-7-24-2t 6-31-12-14-19-7.8uS-90

Fixed lol.

That is so funny I been playing with my new 3x 275's & I ran vantage & I was like what??? My score went down??? Then I realized I had my P1 & P2 still on auto... Believe it or not, I enabled those settings & gained 2000 points in vantage...

Vantage = P32,020

Been reading all of this thread. I got the EVGA 790I FTW. I also get the random crashes. (ive never had BSOD before tho)

Tho in my situation it seems like it's as random as it can be with the crashes. Sometimes several days pass by without crashes, other times, 5 times a day. Both when playing, watching medie, surfing the net etc. Basicly everything. When it freezes, i can't move anything. Mouse, keyboard, everything is stuck. and it will keep repeating the sound i heard for the last 5 sec in the speakers. Only thing to do is a psysically restart.

I have Corsair XMS DDR3 1333, 9-9-9-24 passing 28 hours of memtest without a single error.

Got the latest bios drivers (tried flashing back to old ones, same freezes) tried older and newer version of Nvidia Drivers for GFX, same thing. been playing a bit around with different voltage that seems to have helped the problem in the matter of it takes more than 6 hours between each crash.

So i don't think that Ktooms ram is the problem in the freeze cases. Think ure just having the same problems as, what is seems 98% of the ppl with a 790I have. I haven't found a solution to this yet, but if i do ill ofc post it here.

Just out of curiousity what kind of video card(s) do you have? I been playing with my new 275's & they do not like to be pushed hard. If I go too much on my OC, I run furmark & comp just locks up... can't do anything... But I got the FTW & can look in my case & see there is hard drive activity... I pressed ctrl, alt, delete a few times. Wait like a minute or two & the screen comes up, I start task manager, end furmark & it pops up nvidia driver not responding... I have to disable sli & re enable sli, to get all 3 of my cards to run again.

So pretty much video drivers can freeze your comp too.... Like yesterday I pushed my clocks, they ran furmark... Started MW2, played a round, beginning of next round it locked back up... Lowered my GPU clocks & no lockups!

I think maybe you didn't save it in the bios after you changed it?

My processor & memory linked & synced @1900 FSB gets less then 9000 on memory read, with those settings on Auto. I don't think yours got 10000+, unless that was while it was enabled!

Well I can't say if the BIOS did indeed save the settings, but I know I pressed F10 and responded "Y" to saving the settings.  Obviously it isn't only the P1/P2 settings that determine the speed.  Memory timings (which I didn't post) have more to do with speed I would guess which explains the difference between your and my benchmark results.  thorne

KTOOOOM, get some new RAM.  OCZ is just too problematic and hit or miss with the 790i chipset.

You have made so many changes that I have no idea what your settings are at this time.  Please post another completely filled out BIOS template.  To keep us from having to search this thread, please include the settings and voltage as written on the sticks.  I am assuming that you are running 4GB (2 X 2GB).  Please list what version video card driver you are currently using.  If memory serves me correctly, you already tested your RAM for 8 hours each stick.

Understood.  Please read post # 10 carefully and provide all of the information so that we can see what we can do for you with the RAM that you have.  We haven't given up on you yet.
