You might want to check with your Homeowner's insurance (if you have) to see if there is any coverage of the damage.  Normally ram should be used in quad channel in slots 1,3,5,7.  Have you tried 2,4,6,8?  If only the one slot is effected...you might still be able to get what you need...

the board only have 4 dimm's, so without use of all 4, I wont get quad channel. The board boots up, and the other 3 ram slots work fine. My wife is telling me to just keep it, she says "do you really need all 4 to work". just bums me out that I messed up my board. Kinda want to buy a new one just to make up for it, an expensive lesson, but it I kinda dont want to settle, that was the whole point of waiting for the x299 dark

Gobstoppable it looks like she has the start to a new Kaby Lake system :P

Page 18

Kaby Lake-X processors are certified for Dual-Channel mode, and will be enabled only upon using two sticks of supported memory, according to the installation guide on Page 34. Kaby Lake-X supports up to 32GB (2x16GB) up to 4000MHz+. 32GB and larger RDIMM modules are *NOT* supported on this platform.
Kaby Lake-X only supports memory in DIMM slots 3 and 4.

Lol thats actually a good idea. The mb is fine, still has plenty of life and I’m sure it will do well for someone. I forone can’t stand looking at my mistake. It’s like getting a brand new car, then getting in an accident and putting a giant dent in the driver door. It works fine, but it’s not something you want in your face for the rest of your life, you just want to fix it, move on and enjoy your new car. Was it an expensive lesson, absolutely, but I gotta fix my car. Plus I’ve had a 7900x in my closet for months waiting for this board, I don’t want to settle, I want to fix my mistake and have the system I’ve been dreaming of for months.

I would of ordered another on tonight, but they are out of stock

Posted thinking of my X299 FTW K.  Later realized and was reminded that Dark only has the four slots.  My mistake!
