i was wondering does the heatpipe heatsink cover all the chips that get hot or just the gpu and the plate below that takes care of the memory and power regulator(s).

basically like

you may have to copy and paste link to open due to anti hotlinking code.

i saw in youtube video someone took one of them all in one coolers meant for cpu and mounted to gpu to make hybrid.

i would like to do some serious overclocking but i dont want thermal and power throttling because the stock cooler cant handle the demands

    Welcome to the Forums

Your asking about custom cooling for your card; I'll move your post to the Overclocking, Cooling and Benchmarking section of the Forums

I would look at the website for the water blocks that fits your GPU.  EKWB has some very nice manuals that show how things fit

Looks like you interested in AIO / CLC type coolers

What is your GPU part number ?

i am not sure but the thing i was wondering is if the voltage regulators and memory is cooled by a separate heatsink from the one that cools the gpu because i have seen some using the coolers that have the waterblock and pump combined.

Look on back of card for sticker or on the box; too many different ones to give an answer

on the contrary it does get hot  the air coming off of it when under heavy load is quite hot and i suspect thermal throttling

It gets hotter than 1070, both aircooled.

Im not sure what you are trying to ask us here, but approx 83c is stock limit when it starts to throttle. It shouldn't be any near that at "stock clocks" and not ref cooler.

i am trying to ask if i can do a hybrid cooling where a water cooling can be done only to the gpu while the power and memory chips are handled passively  but i guess there are no engineers and technicians in the forums.

It all comes down to your Part number on card,  But from not knowing what model it is, it makes it difficult to determine if there will be a conflict.  You can get an AIO like the Eiswolf GPX Pro, but to be honest I would not recommend Alphacool, they have sub par quality in my opinion.  The GPX Pro has a GPU block that's on the Die and the rest are passively cooled via a giant integrated heatsink, its a pretty affordable unit and would probably work very well for you.  Seeing as though they dont seem to have a 1060 unit bundled, you could get the heatsink separate and then get the AIO parts.  For the GPX though you will need to know the part number since those heatsinks are machined for different PCB's.   There is also Bitspower block for the Founders Edition 1060 (BP-WBV1060-H-RGB), not sure if its available anymore but that is the part number) and there is Bykski that make waterblocks for the 1060 to.  You can also look at the EK Thermosphere blocks which cool only the GPU Die and you have to do passive cooling on everything else, it comes in a acetal or acrylic.  You would also have to buy a mounting bracket for the hole spacing to fit the Thermosphere.  Watercool also makes a GPU Die only block again same story.  You will need to input your card data on the EK Configurator to know for sure.  A 1060 that is watercooled will certainly help it.  Hope this helps.
