All drivers are up to date, even tried running driver sweeper and then installing different versions of the audio driver. There are no device conflicts in device manager. All of the volume controls are fully functional, nothing is muted. All Windows updates downloaded and installed. Ran the Windows XP troubleshooter and it didnt find anything wrong. Windows Audio is enabled and running. Ran CCleaner to fix any registry errors. I even tried reinstalling Windows XP and still have no sound.

Frustrated, I even tried a different motherboard and still no sound. I've tried different sets of speakers with no luck and both work on my other computer. I've googled for help and have found nothing that can help me. I'm about to throw this old computer in the garbage, it's driving me nuts.

have you tried DLing software from speaker manufacturer (I don't mean drivers)? Sometimes the audio software, which is just a different UI for the controls, does the trick.

It's Realtek so they only have the codec to download and it comes with the UI. Yes, the connection is correct, it even pops up that a device has been plugged into the audio port on the rear panel.... with both sets of speakers.

Is your setting in the BIOS correct?
I know you tried another MB, but just something to check.

Yes I made sure Onboard Audio was enabled on both.

Ok.... so I guess I didnt try everything. I pulled the Soundblaster XFi card out of my rig and installed it in the XP machine. Now has fully working audio. So what would cause that???
