So I've read some posts and information on this motherboard, and I think I've understood it, but I'm still just a little unsure. Right now, I have 2 480gtx's in slots 1 and 2, cause evidently I have to get a new case to support EATX lol.

Later, when I get my new case (possibly set on the HAF X), and I can run my two 480 GTXs in SLI in the proper slots (1 & 3), can I still have them running 16x and have a 3rd video card in to run a third monitor? Seems like if I were to add in ANY other cards anywhere in the PCIe slots, it'd lower my SLI to 8x.

So my questions are:
1) Do the slots go to 8x when ANY cards are set into the PCIe slots, or does this only apply when the cards inserted are SLI?
2) Does the one PCI lower the speeds of any other slots?
3) How about the PCIe 1x slot?

And possibly as a surprise question, any thoughts on the HAF X for this board and video cards? Also running an i7 980x (OC'd to 4.2ghz) with a megahelms rev.b cooler.

Thanks!

On a 760, the first lot is 16X as long as the second is emty, they are both 8X if both occupied, the 3rd is 16X if the 4th is empty, both 8X if occupied, You want 1st and 3rd to run two cards at 16X, and the 1X slots have no affect on slot bandwidth. If you do get the HAF X, it has two slots for USB3 on the front, a EU30 ard in a 1X slot, will provide you two USB3 to accomadate the case, and still give you room for a small fan on the NB if you wish.
I have a 980X in a E759 in a haf X and love this case, I wish my other two were in a HAf-X, but had to settle on the HAF 932, because there was no Haf X when I built them. ( you will also love the two front slide out drawers if you want two SSD's, They have quick plug connects for the sata ports and power. ( This is a well designed case)

So basically the only way I'm going to be able to run a 3rd monitor is if I lower my 480 SLI down to 8x right? If I use another PCIe card, that is.

I doubt I can find a PCIe x1 card to fit with that weird bump on the northbridge heatsink. I could probably find one for the PCI slot, but then that'd get rid of my option for sound ... unless I bought a PCIe x1 soundcard. That's $150+ I'd rather not have to pay with my now lack of money lol

You sir have solved all of my problems. Haha. That'll let me run my soundcard, 3rd monitor, and keep my SLI at 16x. Haha. Thank you very much!

It should work fine. All I need it is for is the screen space, really. I only game on one monitor, and just need the other two for web browsers, movies, w/e.
