Hi.
I'd  like to ask what should I do now?
I have EVGA 980ti with warranty that expired 4 months ago.
3 months ago I bought dg-77 chassis.
Obviously I had to use vertical mount cause it simply looks sick.
Now after 3 months, while playing BF1 suddenly I noticed a lot of smoke, everything shut down, scent of burning electronics filled whole room.
After quick inspection I saw few lines on a riser cable bubbled and burnt through.
I removed riser bracket and tried to start without it. Gpu posted once, but with terrible artifacts. I'd say it's fried.
I tried different GPU, thankfully nothing else seems to be affected.
So what should I do now? Is it plausible that malfunctioning  Evga riser cable included in Dg-77 chassis damaged GPU?
I can obviously RMA that cable, I'd rather keep chassis for obvious reasons.
But what with the GPU in this case?
I might add that i have also EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G3 also under warranty.

Almost certainly the card damaged the riser cable, not vice versa. The card failed and then the riser cable overheated due to the card's shorted component.

That is kind of what I would assume would also be more likely to happen but it doesn't really change the problem of the GPU and the cable both suffering damage.

The card doesn't have a warranty any more. It expired. Throw it in the trash. 900 series cards have been burning up in similar ways at a high rate recently. Get a new riser cable from EVGA; hopefully for free, but probably it isn't very expensive anyway. Buy a new video card.

The traces which burned on the riser cable are for the video card's power from the PCI-E slot. It is certain that the riser cable burned because of the video card short. Not the other way around. If those specific traces on the riser cable burned just by themself, the video would be undamaged and would still work right now. It is clear that a warranty discussion is not necessary.
