anyone know if the modular cables are the same pcie ect as the hx1000 ones was wanting to do a quick swap over without having to reroute would be good if i only have to do the mb power connector cheers in advance to anyone who reads this

No, they are not the same.  Unfortunately you will need to re-route the cables as the connections on the modular interface are different.

This is why the AX1200 states "Use approved AX1200 cables only".  I suggest you follow Corsairs recommendation.

i am not sure but i dont think u should mix them up
the reason is the single 12V rail design on the AX1200 and the HX1000 works on more then 1 rail so the cables are arranged to that

That link does not show the PSU side modular connector configuration which the OP is asking about, it only shows the component side connector type.

The modular connector interface on the AX1200 is keyed completely different compared to the HX1000 so the cables are not compatible.

No worries, it's hard to see even from those images.  Here are some images showing some of the difference in how the modular connection is keyed.



There are similar differences with the 8-pin modular connectors as well.  It would take some work indeed to make non-AX1200 cables work.
