precision x not working -- can't overclock

I just got an EVGA GTX 680 from amazon in the mail today -- yay! -- replacing an aging 5870.
 
I installed precision X, but the "power target" is greyed out, and changing the other sliders have no effect -- boo!
 
I've uninstalled/reinstalled the nvidia drivers from scratch, as well as precision X, still no go. What's wierd is that MSI afterburner doesn't work either.
 
Mobo is a P6T7-- PSU is 1000w. Windows 7 64 bit. See how the "power target" is greyed out (see attached screen cap).

    I see my message was moved -- sorry if I posted in the wrong area.
     
    I have another clue, which seems to indicate there is a problem with the card or at the nvidia driver/registry level: when I install ASUS GPU Tweak, it doesn't show the correct settings either, showing "GPU Boost clock" instead of "GPU core clock" ... just like Precision X. See attached capture.
     
    I did the driver sweeper thing and re-installed everything from scratch AGAIN, just in case, and still no dice.

    holy cow I didn't know evga had 24x7 support! amazing! glad I picked EVGA!

    It had the same behavior in a completely different system, so I had to RMA the card. I suggest you call in to EVGA!
