Stick to a 1080. The 1070 is a little more power efficient but you lose in fps.

Yea, good to know. A 1080 might be good future proofing. Thinking of a whole rig upgrade next year but the current gpu burnt out so I really need to get a replacement. Otherwise I would have waited for volta.

If your going to wait till next year, then you are going to have a lot of options. Volta and Ryzen on 7nm. I think that would be a good combination.

Yea. Well there are some good deals on ryzen. Also, Vega and ryzen is coming on Feb 10 and you can do some light gamin till the drought is gone and we start getting more cards.

Yea, I am aiming right now for a 1060 for light gaming. I can get one for about ~300 for a 6GB model.
