Good evening guys!
I'm a pharmacy student from Texas that got started folding with the LTT Team. Although I'm not switching
entirely for the EVGABucks promotion, I have to admit that that is a strong factor in getting me to switch.
Summary of how I got introduced to EVGA and folding:
-See JayzTwoCents/GN review and OC the 2080Ti K|NGP|N with LN2
-Tried to upgrade my Zotac 1050Ti to am EVGA 1660Ti XC in my Mini-ITX build last summer before I moved to Pharmacy school but was quickly and harshly taught the rule of making sure card slot widths fit are equally important to making sure the card lengths fit. Eventually went along with an MSI Ventus XS OC 1660Ti because it was the only one that fit in my case in stock at my local Fry's (didn't realize at the time that I had a local Micro Center location in Dallas).
-I decided to upgrade my case from the Cooler Master Elite 110 to a Rosewill Cullinan (i.e. Mini-ITX Cube -> ATX Mid-Tower) during Newegg's Black Friday sales. I didn't exactly realize just how empty the case would look like by
not upgrading the motherboard along with the case (which I didn't want to do and still don't want to do since I want to squeeze as much life out of the i5-8400 my friend helped me buy for the Mini-ITX build).
-While taking a study break for finals, I was introduced to through a reddit thread describing a folding rig. I discussed it with my biochemistry professor and had a good conversation with it as to how results from F@H could impact pharmaceutical research. Began using my rig to fold with LTT's Team.
-Got all A's for all of my sleepless nights during finals week. To reward myself I decided to buy (at first) an MSI Ventus XS OC 2080 Super but ultimately "settled" on an EVGA 2070 Super XC Ultra (which I registered/deregistered on my account here...noted the presence of the EVGA team but didn't notice the EVGABucks promotion tied to it). This would kickstart a cycle of purchases and returns (because the 2x 5700 XTs I tried were just absolutely unstable in my system and the Zotac 2070 Super Twin Fan's aesthetics simply didn't line up with me) which finally ended with an open box EVGA 2070 Super FTW3 Ultra for $521 the Dallas Micro Center on 1/6/20.
-Present Day, finding out about the EVGABucks promotion and now I'm here typing this whole odyssey out lol
