You control voltage by using a Voltage curve and setting it so it can never go higher than a set Voltage. That's undervolting.

Precision X1 sucks for adjusting voltage curves. Use Afterburner instead,

Yes but afterburner sucks at controlling a EVGA fan.

Max fans out with precision then close it down, and use afterburner for everything else.

You can also apply your custom fan curve with PX1, then open afterburner and apply your voltage curve.  Just make sure you don't have the fans set to auto or user controlled in afterburner.  Annoying, but it works.

PX1 would be all you need if they would just add a way to lower all points in unison, and apply the current frequency to the rest of the voltages beyond your current point.

I'd have to do that everytime because on certain reboots, the 3rd fan wouldn't be running at all.

I'm amazed they haven't added this as a feature with how long Afterburner has had the drag-all feature.

I'm running -10% Power Target, the GPU is still boosting to almost 2GHz core, and it's running quite a bit cooler than before, with no noticeable loss in performance (at least not in GTA V Single Player)

Just put the power target slider at 90%?  That's all I'm talking about, -10% is 90% instead of 100%... sorry if that confused ya.

Thats not how Undervolt works. You dont touch PT.

First you do -280 core then open VF and start with .900V and 1950 mhz until you crash or 0.875v- 1850mhz

I know that.  He was asking how you do -10% power limit, so I answered :-D  I'm not messing with undervolting yet because doing it in Precision is a mess & I really don't feel like having Afterburner up every time I load windows just to apply it.
I do find it interesting that the card doesn't seem to suffer from lower clocks when simply lowering the power limit though.  Would be neat to see just how low you can go on Power Target + VF curve and still maintain stability at 1900+ actual boost clock.

Afterburner stores your VF data to firmware. So lets say you tick Apply overclock at startup and start minimized you dont have to deal with afterburner anymore. Even further if i close afterburner OFF the VF data still stored. You can check cuz in PX1 you see your afterburner VF curve in precision :)

    i am so happy with .900V 1995mhz ^^

Best undervolt I could get is 0.925v at 1935. 0.900v ran stable at 1905. 0.950-0.975 wouldn't hold 1950 stable. 1.000V and I was back in upper 70s temp-wise so it was throttling down and doing worse than my 0.925v @1935.  RIP my ftw3 "ultra" bin.

Good to hear. Yep, it tends to run 65-70 for me depending on the game/test.

I can't run stock without seeing 80C and bouncing off the power limit (makes the clocks jump all over the place).  Increasing power limit just makes the heat go through the roof, adds to stability, but my clocks drop to 1800s. 011D with 3 bottom intake fans...and more aggressive fan curve than the aggressive preset.  This card is rough.

Undervolting is amazing, doesn't seem to work while overclocking though. I tried the same method with Afterburner, only pushed 2130 and 975mv or 1V as the highest point and it would either crash or wouldn't be able to hold that fequency, even with higher power target.
I guess that was to be expected?

That just got me wondering.  What is the benefit of undervolting vs just lowering the clock speeds in Precision?

2.GPU undervolt is use to GPU temp down for me(68°), because my FTW3 3080 is too hot in gaming stage(78°)

Yeah I feel ya. I have to cap my modern games at 90 or 100fps otherwise it hits 84c and throttles.  I should try the undervolting. Thanks for the inspiration!

I haven't pushed it, but out of the box 0.850 @ 1950 with +400 memory is stable (temps down from 73 to 66 on stock cooler in a Fractal R5).  This is a Gigabyte Gaming OC 3080.

Do I have to control fans with Afterburner?  I want to set my FTW3 at OC setting so the fans use a aggressive curve, yet I want to under volt with afterburner.  Is this possible?
