technopathTry resetting everything and then setting up all the timings, freq, etc. then under Advanced>North Bridge>DRAM RAPL BWLIMIT 16? Upon first boot after changing that setting in the BIOS to 16, Windows decided to install some device drivers by itself (I was unable to see what it was doing in the background) and told me I needed to reboot for the changes to take effect. After rebooting from Windows I still hang on B3, but I now also have 17 Base System Devices in my Device Manager that weren't there before and won't go away (regardless of whether I revert the setting back to 1 in the BIOS). EDIT: Base System Devices are gone after fiddling with the BIOS some more and re-reinstalling numerous Intel Chipset Drivers. http://i.imgur.com/mZzWBka.png bdaryPossibly a good point (catch). By default, that setting should be "disabled"... I say possibly as I'm not 100% on what it actually does, but it looks like it could be relevant by what it says here. There is no 'disabled' for BWLIMIT. RAPL Mode (which two entries below) has a 0/1/Disabled setting and it's already disabled. Unless by "disabled" you mean, not able to be accessed by the end user in the BIOS.

Maybe I could have been more clear. The default setting is "Disabled". I personally don't know of any reason to change it to any other available setting that field has. DRAM RAPL BWLIMIT - "1" DRAM RAPL MODE - "Disabled"

CFipp53 I spoke with EVGA tech support for several hours tonight, I am having an almost identical error (b3 diagnostic code on reboot/failure to post). I may have stumped our support team, they are going to get back to me after trying to recreate this error. If I learn anything new, I will post. video editing workstation specs: RAM : 8 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance, 1866, 1.5V MOBO : EVGA X79 Dark CPU : i7 4930K Windows 8, EVGA GTX Titan, EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 PSU, (2x)ASUS RADIRs 240GB (PCIE SSDs), LSI SAS9260-8i RAID CARD, (8x)3TB Seagate 7200rpm (RAID10), Samsung 840 Pro 256GB, ASUS PCE-AC68 Wireless Card
so did you fix the problem?

I was contacted by Dave Biel, EVGA Customer Support Supervisor at 5pm 10/7, requesting some more information. I replied today 10/10 at noon, in detail my system specs, information about the issues, and what I have tried. It seems to me its an issue of support for the i7 4930K, with over 4 sticks of ram. With any luck its something they can fix quickly with a bios update or something. If I don't get a resolution within a week, I'll need to return it to the retailer as defective.

devil_may_cry help please
My suggestion would be to just use 4 sticks of ram for the time being since you stated they work fine that way. After they release the next BIOS revision, then give all 8 a try again. Based on everything we've tried, I'm thinking this is a BIOS issue.

set your memory voltage to 1.65. VCCIO to 1.2. set your memory timings manually to 10,10,10,27 1600 let us know what happens.

FYI, this was exactly the same problems that the Asus Rampage IV Extreme had when they launched. Took them months to get a bios update out. It all comes down to early adopters that have to be patient until the quirks are worked out.
Kudos to EVGA for not only finding it faster, but for actually announcing when it will be fixed. You get none of that with Asus.
(Still waiting for The Dark to be in stock for my order!)

FYI, we are not talking here about Asus Rampage IV Extreme . FYI, I don't think EVGA count other companies mistake and problem as an excuse for them to have the same problem. FYI, your post didn't serve anyone or any purpose more over you dont even have EVGA motherboard FYI, I'm EVGA customer since 2008 and I know the quality of their products and I dont need to compare it to other companies FYI, if you have a solution to my problem help me please thank you

As I said, and you quoted me: It all comes down to early adopters that have to be patient until the quirks are worked out. I was only listing Asus' X79 platform as a prime example. You have no idea how difficult that process was for us. Many systems sat with 4 sticks on the desk for months until it was fixed. EVGA, a few weeks since it was reported (next update). Not to mention this product, the X79 Dark, is the first headed by a different approach involving K|ingP|n to turn EVGA's mobo line around. There will be quirks with that process as well. If you wanted something perfect, you arw free to buy something that has tested in the wild with 1000s of custom builds after a year or so of support. There is no such thing as a perfect launch with these types of products. Well, actually EVGA's GPUs are near perfect at launch. If you continue to be disappointed, I'll buy the Dark from you and you can go with something older that has been tested in the wild. My heat is in my for sale thread in my signature.
