I was considering B stock as well, risky as you don't know what the card went through previously e.g. mining, heavy work loads, no one can tell

It really isn't risky at all though. You already get the card for a great price and EVGA tests them all - not to mention they come with a 1 year warranty. It's better than buying on the used market like locally or eBay in every way.

Just built my son's Christmas PC with a B stock 1080. Got it for an amazing price (I couldn't find one locally or on ebay for remotely close) and it has a 1 year warranty.

Price is a one thing, condition is another. A year warranty speaks for itself. How many new cards run fine for week, month or even a year and all of the sudden dead? After a year EVGA will not even repair them so you hope to be OK and like I said, someone could have mine the heck of that card knowing they have warranty and you might end up with card that runs on its last leg.

Is it tempting..sure, especially when you see price fluctuation from $1200 to $800, that's the selling tactic, but is it risky, even more

    That's my view.

Considering you still can't buy a 3080 and the 3070 will likely be the same scenario, I think $800 for a 2080Ti with a 1 year warranty is a great deal.

Not to mention...not sure if any of you have looked around, but EVGA 2000 cards have basically dried up everywhere. Like...they almost can't be found at all brand new from authorized resellers. Only 2060's and 2070's and mostly the SKU's that aren't really wanted as much.

yeah im really tempted because it would be major improvement over my 2060 ko and i could enjoy the 2080ti till all this mess with new cards is over with then look at upgrading next year. and it says they have tested them and they good. but you cant but extended warranty you get a year and thats it. you never know ive read reviews of peeps getting anything from graphics cards and psu and they doa from the get go.

It looks like they've already sold a TON of cards. When I bought my sons 1080 a few weeks ago, they had wayyyyyy more B stock inventory than they're showing now.

Crazy.  Guess more people know about the B-stock than I thought. lol.  I know EVGA just had a midweek madness sale on B stock stuff as well, so this may be a carry over then.  Dang...your post makes me antsy that I should just get one now before I regret my procrastination. lol.

I'm just making note of it because literally when I was browsing B stock just a few weeks ago, they had a crap ton of cards for sale. They had like 4 or 5 GTX 1080 SKU's alone available. Now they're 100% sold out of those for example. They had at least 2-3X more cards SKU's available in all than they're showing now.

If you're thinking about the 2080Ti, go for it. Sure, you can probably find a sucker selling one a little cheaper on eBay...but it's not going to come with a 1 year warranty. Or be a card the EVGA has tested to be in good working order so you know when you get it, it will work!

I pulled the trigger, but not on a 2080.  It was a 2060 KO Ultra.  It's for an HTPC, so I don't need a super powerful card, but the 2060 with the 5% discount associates code of one of the moderators made it worthwhile to go for it.
I blame you R3L3NTL3SS for helping to spend my money. lol.  It's all good.  My HTPC will be thankful for a working, modern card.  Getting tired of the Green screen of death from my R9 380.

Since I can't blow money on a 3080, I have to live vicariously through others and make them spend their money.

Depending on resolution and the game, the 2080Ti performs as much as 50-60% better so...yeah...pretty huge increase in performance lol. If you're only playing at 1080, CPU is going to play a big roll in how much more performance you will see.

i avg 130 to 150 fps at 1080p and 80 to 90 at 1440p. thats with medium to high settings no raytracing and with the vsync on the fps doesnt bounce around as much.

Just my 2 cents but these cards are a terrible deal! These cards should be selling for 500 max there used and already outdated by the 3070 and looks like the 3070 will be just as fast or faster and new and rumors are they will have a higher stock count on release for even less. So unless you neeed to have a card wait to throw 800 dollars on outdated tech 800 dollars is a lot.

That's super ignorant when you consider YOU CAN'T ACTUALLY BUY A 3000 SERIES CARD CURRENTLY. It really wouldn't matter if the 3080 was $20 when you can't buy one.

And you're absolutely insane if you think a 2080Ti is "outdated tech". It's still a monster GPU. Period.

Did you overlook that phrase? I'm sorry but in my opinion regardless if you can get one or not 800 on outdated used tech is a lot when the new generation that is somewhat already out is better and the same price or if you wait for even cheaper version that is possible faster and new. My whole rationale was to wait and not buy now unless you need one. I dont think it's ignorant.

With zero legit reviews on the 3070 yet....

And the 3080 basically still almost impossible to get for the most part.

A 2080Ti is a good deal for some, and no they aren't out of date by far, especially the high end models.

The 2080Ti will still do the same thing today and 6 months from now as it did when it 1st came out.

I'm not one to perpetually "wait for the next thing", but we *know* better price/performance is comming. (Just waiting for stock)

Paying $800 for a 2080Ti today is a desperation move.

Yeah, the sales they had the past 2 weeks wiped them out.  I have a 2060 coming for my HTPC on Friday(don't need anything super powerful; going from R9 380, so it'll be a major boost).

    Core i7 6700k
    Gigabyte Z170XP-SLI
    2x8GB Team T-Force Vulcan Z 3200Mhz
    EVGA 2070 Super XC Ultra
Corsair AIO? with 3D Printed spacer
    Mushkin 240GB SSD
    1TB NVMe
    1TB Seagate SSHD
    LG Black BD-Drive UH12NS30
