Buy another 1070 if you own a lot of games that support sli.

i'm more looking for a "future proof" rather then performance, from 5 years from now i still want to be able to play new titles at max or near to max settings at 1080p-1440p 60 fps

If you got 1070 already then getting another one would be the cheapest way. If money not an issue. Sell the one you got (at a loss obviously) and get 1080 ti. Both options would deliver great gaming at 1080-1440 res for few years to come. As for "future proof" its a chase for a unicorn. And just a quick question. Are you not satisfied with your 1070? AFAIK it should deliver a stellar performance @ 1080p/60fps+ on any title out there now. It seems to me you have an upgrade itch. ;) Regards, Ghost

it seems like i do xd, but idk this was my first purchase of a gpu and i never ever experienced gaming with full detail before. started on a laptop that could only run league of legends on low settings avg 60, then bought a "gaming" dell computer with a gt 720, i just dont wanna go back to min settings on games unable to even keep a steady 60fps

1070 SLI is best for you. But 5 years is a long time. Neither option will be good then. 3 years, most likely

I sold the 970 SSC a few months ago and picked up a 40" Samsung 4K TV for coding and gaming, but I've been stuck with IGP off the 6700K. I've been on the fence in regards to [nearly impulse buying] 2x 1080 versus a single custom 1080 Ti for 2160p gaming. It's pretty tough to make those decisions when most of the YouTube videos were from almost a year ago when the drivers were premature, and it didn't shed a good light on SLI. Recent game play videos seem to show some very nice improvements especially in Rise of Tomb Raider, but almost all of them run it with AA unnecessarily maxed out. This causes VRAM to get saturated, which causes microstutter. Also, I thought SLI wasn't supported in DX12 in general. I'm also not a huge gamer. The latest AAA title in my Steam library is Rise of the Tomb Raider and Just Cause 3. Future games might include Resident Evil, Quantum Break, NiER: Automata, etc. Some of those games are well suited for consoles, so I might opt for PS4 versions instead to avoid the technical issues. I tend to play older games like classic Doom and Duke, COD1-5 (don't are about newer titles), Borderlands 2, Half Life, BioShock Remastered, Max Payne series, Wolfenstein, etc. Most of these old games run at easily at 4k on a single 1080. It's difficult to justify the cost of getting 2x 1080, so I'm trying my best to remain patient for a single 1080 Ti from EVGA. Just sharing my thoughts.

Agreed. IMO, it's not even worth future proofing anything due to lower return of investment. It's like buying a car, modding it, and expect resale value to be the equivalent of another stock performance car costing much more. Hardware is advancing far beyond software innovation which is why we're still dealing with growing pains with DX12, poor console ports, multi-GPU scaling and efficiency, etc. Just buy what you need when you need it. Before you buy another 1070, see if it's worth selling before opting for a better card. If you don't need it now, just wait for good deals.

Take the money, put it in a hidden box and in 2 years buy another $350 GPU. Seriously, you will have better performance, more VRAM and all the new features that future GPU will offer. You'll also save (slightly) on your power bill.

Cooler master case. My First Full PC build myself but I used PC part picker of course to ensure success. My XOC tells me that it never gets above 70* on max settings ME Andromeda with a 4k monitor. Nothing is water-cooled and I have the stock amount of fans. It is a bit noisy but I have a pair of Turtle Beach 800X headphones which have Noise Cancellation.
