Is there a setting in the BIOS to disable hotswap like there is for the SATA ports? I didn't see it.

I did find this:
(do I have to set removal policy to 0?)

Sorry, my mistake. I currently have both drives connected and I got the SSD confused with the M.2 drive.

I wonder if we can do the same with our Graphics Cards?

There are dipswitches to disable the GPU.  That's as far as that goes.

Use this Associate Code at your checkouts or follow these instructions for Up to 10% OFF on all your EVGA purchases:

I'm confused.  Are you saying just like hot swapping drives, there's one for GPU's in Windows?  If so, which Windows are you referring to.

Yes (both fully updated) and this is on All my Windows 10 Computers to include AMD R9 290X Graphics Cards.
I have seen this on any driver is have installed NVIDIA and AMD.
I just want to remove it from my task bar is all.

That question was asked in post #1. There isn't an option to change that for the M.2 in the BIOS. Probably because it does not support hot swapping.

Windows 10, and if I recall Windows 7 when I had it installed on my X99 Classified MB. Sorry this only shows on my X99 MB not my other ones.
I do not see any SSD Drives but that may be because I had Hot Swap Disabled in the Bios and set for Speed and not fast removal.

NVIDIA Outs Hotfix Driver to Address Graphics Card Eject Bug

by btarunr Tuesday, February 2nd 2016 00:21 Discuss (12 Comments)
NVIDIA rolled out a Hotfix driver update for its recently released GeForce 361.75 Game Ready drivers. The new GeForce 361.82 Hotfix driver corrects a bug which makes your installed GPUs appear as removable devices in your system tray (much like removable storage devices). It may have been a bug in the implementation of support for external graphics solutions over Thunderbolt 3, introduced with 361.75 WHQL. The hotfix driver addresses the issue.

If you find a 300-megabyte download worth fixing the bug (i.e. you often accidentally "eject" your graphics cards (unload display driver) while trying to unmount your external storage devices), then grab the driver for your OS from the link below.

    DOWNLOAD: NVIDIA GeForce 361.82 Hotfix

Use this Associate Code at your checkouts or follow these instructions for Up to 10% OFF on all your EVGA purchases:

I already posted that. And it's been fixed for a long time (that is Feb 2016 not Feb 20117). However there was another 'fix' editing the registry that Bcavnaugh tried and no go there as well.

Seeing that both of my SSD's are from Samsung, I got confused when I saw "safely remove". I had both plugged in at the time and thought it was already disabled.
Now I only have my M.2 installed and I don't see anything in "safely remove". I also disabled hot-swap for the HDD's.

Oh that's good. That part works. I still show it for 'High Definition Audio Controller'

I never had "high definition audio controller" show up with my GTX980.
If I remember correctly, I did see it at one point with my GTX580.
