Hey Guys,
I recently started to build my first PC ever, and purchased an EVGA Motherboard (z370 Classified-K) but I've come across some problems when I attempted to start my entire build up.
When I start up the PC, various red LEDs starts lighting up;
-Memory Error LED
-5VSB
-PCIe LED for PE2
I've had friends look over my build and they have reason to believe either my RAM isn't compatible with the Motherboard or I may have gotten a faulty Motherboard. I am also unable to start up my monitor when I plugged my DVI-I Cable into the GPU, not sure if that issue connects with the errors on the motherboard or not.
I was wondering if anyone has gotten this problem or can help me troubleshoot this issue! Thanks in advance!
PC Parts:
CPU: i5 8600k
RAM: 4x4 Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 (CMK16GX4M4A2133C13)
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1050ti OC Windforce
PSU: EVGA 650w GQ
AIO Cooler: H60 Liquid CPU Cooler

Is there any error code on the on-board 2 digit LED display?
The Memory Error LED indicated that the memory didn't initialise correctly. It may be that a module (or more) hasn't been installed correctly or indeed, it may indicate a faulty module(s). Have you tried with just 2 sticks of RAM in slots 2 & 4?
The 5VSB LED isn't a problem, it just shows 5V has been detected.
The PCIe LED for PE2 being lit indicates the slot hasn't initialised yet, it may related to the fact the motherboard halted during the memory initialisation.

Sorry I forgot to add that to the post. I think the on-board 2 digit LED says "53" I've just tried with just 2 sticks of RAM in Slots 2 & 4, the error LEDs still display. Thanks!

I've just checked if the RAM I have at the moment is compatible and I see it on the list of RAMs.
Is it possible I've gotten faulty RAM sticks and would have to switch them out for another set?

Push clear cmos to reset the bios then try booting
If it doesn't get past pre post and you don't hear a beep you have not gotten far enough for anything to show up on your monitor

Try reseating your CPU and start with 1 stick of RAM in slot 2.

If it doesn't get past pre post and you don't hear a beep you have not gotten far enough for anything to show up on your monitor
I’ve put RAM in slots 2 & 4, the cleared CMOS with no prevail. Error LEDs still display, and monitor still says no signal.

Try reseating your CPU and start with 1 stick of RAM in slot 2.
I’ve done that earlier when I tried self diagnosing the issues with no prevail also. 🙁

With the cooler for the CPU pull the board out of the case and place on some cardboard, pull the PSU out of the case as well and plug in the required connectors to the board Make sure the bios select switch is not in between two positions You have connected 6 and 7 in the attached picture correct? Leaving the GPU off the board plug into the onboard video and see if it will boot, if so then connect the GPU and try again If you get a proper boot then inspect the mounting points in the case as it might be shorting out something

I’ll do that once I get home. Previously I haven’t plugged in Connector #6, but I’ve connected #7. Would that affect anything? Also, my case is a Corsair Carbide 200r Compact ATX Case.

6. 4-pin Supplemental ATX Connector
The ATX power connector on the Z370 Classified K provides additional power to the CPU. This connector requires the appropriate 4-pin ATX power that is provided by your power supply – often as part of a 4+4-pin CPU connector. This connector is not essential to running the system, but may provide additional power to the CPU under a heavy load, overclocking, and/or benchmarking. The 4-pin power connector may be installed in addition to the 8-pin EPS connector; it may not be installed in place of the 8-pin EPS connector.
7. 8-pin EPS Connector
The EPS is dedicated power for the CPU (See Page 38 for more specifics to the connector itself, and associated wiring/pinouts). Carefully choose the correct power cable by consulting with the installation manual for your power supply. This connector is designed to only work with an EPS or CPU cable. System builders sometimes make the mistake of plugging in a PCIe 8-pin or 6+2-pin connector, which will prevent the board from completing POST and possibly short or damage the board. Although PCIe and EPS cables appear similar, they are wired differently and attaching the wrong connector may cause damage to the motherboard.
Alternatively, if no power cable is connected or detected, the system will not POST and will hang at POST code “C.”
Make sure you have the proper cable plugged into #7 and it is fully seated #6 is not a must have but wouldn't hurt

I was checking over the RAM list again and I noticed that my RAM (CMK16GX4M4A2133C13) is on the list, but I have 4x4 sticks; total of 16GB.
On the list itself, it says the same RAM part number, but has “Total of 8GB”, and I couldn’t find the same RAM part number with a total of 16GB.
Could that be issue as to why the motherboard constantly has the Memory Error LED on?

May be an typo on the list, your kit is 4 x 4gb sticks = 16gb They are listing CMK16GX4M4A2133C13 as 2 x 4 sticks for 8gb in slots 2 and 4. Try that first I guess to see what happens Perhaps at the C13 timings the board / cpu memory controller does not like 4 sticks? I would say that if you can get into the bios with 2 sticks (slots 2 and 4) then get the XPM profile loaded and memory trained then add in the other 2 sticks to see if it boots

Sometimes popping the motherboard battery out for 5 minutes will do a better job at resetting the board. Might want to give that a shot.

I'm going to buy z370 classified k I hope not to have problems, I'm a little scared I just read problems, buy a ra of 2 modules gskill 4400mhz, I'll put them xmp to 4000mhz I do not think I have problems ...
