Just found this interesting apparently someone has done it not just on guru3d but also Reddit.
https://forums.guru3d.com...oc-lcd-led-crt.410187/

https://www.techpowerup.c...not-support-it.226657/

Also was reading you can enable gsync on any display with a Digital Display port 1.2.
Hmmm interesting.

The thing is any gpu can use freesync its open sourced. Nvidia has just been being dinks all it would take is a simple enable in their driver with a button in the GUI and that's it=/

I will be trying both once my 1080 FTW2 iCX gets here.

would be interesting to try if my security firewall wasn't blocking the site that tells how to do it, any other way to see instructions?

did a little more searching and seems to be fake, and from 2 years ago. if this was real I'm guessing it'd be a much bigger thing and not something that we just found after 2+ years of the method being out.

no, it's my Norton security saying it's a malicish site.

from what I can tell from second hand reports, it requires a modified driver to work, if it does at all. is that correct?

Lets give Donta a couple days to try it out and hell tell us. That's whats nice about this forum is that you can put some trust in the guys you talk to here all the time and know they will give you accurate results for stuff like this that they will try out. We don't have to speculate whether the guy who reports his findings is bolstering his claims at all etc... Weve all known Donta for a long time and I can def say he is a straight shooter, he will not make things up. Anyway, do your thing Donta and let us know what happens.

Well Gsync is out requires a particular display and I do not fall under that. As well as a modified Driver. It would take whoever made the modified driver to do it for my display. I highly doubt they are taking request and wanting to do it for every driver update lol

Freesync the more I dig is going to take a custom driver, that the author ripped offline pretty fast. Apparently someone threatened them with legal action because of IP so that means not AMD lol

So Gysnc no that requires a custom driver, and the ones out now are old, my setup is not included in those drivers. A faster way is having a notebook and the type of connector from the mobile latop to GPU screen makes it easy If you have the right Clevo and a few other brand setups.

Freesync on Nvidia like I stated above the author of the modded nvidia drivers to enable it have all been pulled, and it required a certain set of displays that hacked driver author had.

    Possible? Yes.
Easy Defiantly not unless you know those that made those special drivers to hook you up secretly its probably not going to happen unless you learn to program yourself.

Make sure you use DDU with your Drivers on AMD. Also the AMD GPU has to be a generation of card that supports it. Do not use HDMI, use the digital Display Port.

Sounds interesting but I personally am waiting for NVIDIA to listen to customers and give us options. I really don't think we will see VRR as the answer as I can see it moving into televisions and consoles. I really think that when the Super Bowl uses VRR to show the game at 120hz the standard will come to the masses very quickly.

I heard fast sink kind of works like freesync on high end display models not sure if that's true.

But yeah it's possible but the hassle you need to know the guys who did it and have them write you the custom driver for your hardware configuration.
