So I have had this system since February of 2017. Started with a 6800K and Corsair Vengeance 4x4gb 3000mhz kit. I recently got a hold of a 5960X which I am running at a stable 4.3 OC. Previously I had never tried Oc'ing the Vengeance ram. When I first built the system I tried the XMP, which did not boot, I declared "Oh bother" and never messed with it again.
After getting the 5960X set up, I tried the XMP again (same result)but then I tried just manually setting the memory clock higher. 2400, 2866, and then 3200. Boots up every time. As stabile as anything. Stress tests, memory tests benchmarks no problem.
So my next plan is to try to upgrade to 32gb (4×8gb). I just tried some Dominator Platinum 3200. Naturally it defaults at 2133 just like the Vengeance, but it does not OC on either XMP or manually. CPU-Z says it has Hynix chips which I hear are not good for OC'ing? Needless to say they are on their way back and the Vengeance is back in at least for now.
So after that long drawn out back story my question is does anybody have a recommendation (based on first hand experience) for a 4x8gb set of ddr4 that is either rated at 3200 or that you have run on this board at 3200. Please don't use read the qvl list and then give me a recommendation based on that. That's why I am currently writing this post, I tried to reference the qvl list. I'm looking real life experience recommendations that are proven to work. Does not have to be Corsair either.

Thanks to all who read the entire post.

Welcome blackgta.  Okay I'm back to what EVGA techs told me on this board with an I7 cpu, speeds above the default will have trouble with multiples of 100. That holds true for my I7 but maybe not for others (especially if you were able to boot at 3200). My guess is 3000 may not work as it did not for me with my Vengeance ram. My ram is not rated for 3200 but is for 3000. 2966 is the highest stable speed I can run it; I went higher but had problems. I am running 4 sticks for 32G total. I've seen posts where others were higher and had 100x multiples but on i9 cpus, not i7. I guess it's too late for you to try the other ram at the 133 multiple, but something to keep in mind. My i7 turbos at 4.3G on all cores so i don't overclock it.

That is me in the picture, anyone else ever pet a live Lion?

Ok I see. There is something about the 3000 setting for the ram because that speed is missing from my choices for overclock in bios. The menu skips from 2866 to 3200. I always make sure the bclk is at 100. Ok so Mhz Maniac, what ram kit are you using?

I just noticed you have an X99, nevermind what I said. Different board.

Out of curiosity, why did you down grade to Haswell-E? Your 6800 should be able to run that memory fine. Also have you updated your BIOS? If you were having issues with trying to overclock your Broadwell-E, that's a ucode issue and has been fixed with a relatively new BIOS 2.08.

@blackgta, Samsung B-dies chips are well known for overclocking and TeamGroup T-Force Xtreem memory have broken several records and mention that all their memory kits own selected Samsung B-die chips

Err what. Not a single model is specified as using Samsung B-die. Not their 'best' Xtreem or any other product line. I looked. All they say is 'selected high quality' like everyone else. The have an "Engrish" ad posting about someone who claimed a record in 2017. https://www.teamgroupinc.com/en/catalog/act.php?act=2&index_id=2

Buildzoid seems have confirmed that all these memory modules are equipped with selected Samsung B-die ic's you can't go wrong buying them (4x8gb) and we may see well the "SEC K4" branding on their picture which means Samsung Electronics Corporate

Nice ad, but did you read my post?  If their OWN MATERIAL specs do not make your claims then why are you making them for them? Are you an executive or an engineer in the company with internal info not available to the public? I mean, just about every one uses Samsung memory in their product lines.  So, I get you're a fan. However being a fan does not mean you get to invent specs the vendor does not claim.  There's facts and there's advertising. You're advertising.

I know the change in CPU seems counterproductive but this Extreme Edition is a beast. The BIOS is this whole other problem I'm having. I did just like you're saying after I saw that there was an update that supported faster memory. ...and then I bricked my A BIOS. I've been messing with computers since atari and building custom PC s for 20 years and this is the first one I've bricked. I contacted evga support and they said I needed to register the board and open a ticket. No problem. Except...no serial number. No sticker, nowhere to be found. Even after pulling everything apart and putting back together. So at this point I'm basically stuck with the backup BIOS (extremely thankful for B BIOS!) and version 2.01. I bought the board in early 2017 for 2 and change and I see people selling them now for 4 bills. I'm not buying another one. So back to the memory thing. I'm actually really happy with it the way it is now. Just bummed I couldn't up the ram. I'm gonna check out everyone's recommendations.

I have started looking at these. It reminds me of when Corsair first started putting their memory out. Products always seem sketchy to consumers when they initially get released. But that's how products get promoted (or rejected), by the successes (and failures) of those that decide to use them. Thanks for the recommendation. I will definitely take a closer look at these.

It might be a good analysis but don't worry i'm not doing any advertising for this vendor and i'm absolutely not paid for that, i'm only a fan... i've read again their flyer and visited their website it is indeed not stipulated in writing but only through this picture to make public understand... And Buildzoid (YouTube tech channel: Actually Hardcore Overclocking) claims this fact so i rely on him

@blackgta You're welcome  I've gone further in my research and found a YouTube video showing and claiming what i said to Heavyhemi it is indeed advertised on the memory modules package (at its back) i post the video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArblEYrYOrA
There's another one claiming this fact (Official advertising): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hd_JQ2yQ7T0

Ok. For those interested, I found what I needed. I took a chance on a really good deal I found on some G Skill Trident Z 4x8GB. The part number I found is F4-3200C16Q-32GTZB. It's not on the QVL list for the X99 FTW K, but it works. I wasnt able to use the XMP setting , but I was able to manually set it at 3200mhz. The board automatically set timings of 17-17-17-44 which is fine with me. It's stable and I can play for hours and hours without crashing. I'm still on the backup BIOS v2.01 but EVGA has offered to provide me with a replacement chip for the A BIOS. I wanted to post my results because so many times people will come to a forum for help with a problem, but once they get a solution, they never post back with their results. At least if someone is wondering, the memory kit listed above works with the X99 FTW K. Also, big thanks to everyone who tried to help!👍👍
