Just wondering, in the current (1.03) bios for the X570 Dark, there is no support for the AMD PBO2 Curve Optimizer - is there any plan to add this feature in a future Bios? Or even negative voltage offsets? This seems like a rather large portion of AMD overclocking to leave out...

I'm surprised nobody has answered your question here.
I recently got the board mainly for ram oc but am also looking for this same answer

Just to clarify...contact them for beta access to a bios that has curve optimizer? Or just to bug them to include it in a future release?

I hate to sneak this in here but the latest bios update has not fixed the "Disable DF C-states" option. It is now present but cannot be disabled.

Thank you! you guys at EVGA manage to get fixes out in record time!

Hey, guys! I bought an X570 Dark for me to use on the R9 5950x. But I am currently using a Crosshair X570 Dark Hero. I would like to know already have a new BIOS with PBO2/CO options?
My X570 Dark is coming and it doesn't make sense to use a motherboard of this level if it doesn't have PBO2/CO options in BIOS.

Agreed, asked EVGA support and was told they have no plans to add any new features at this time... Which really just confused me.

I don't think there is another X570 or B550 board that doesn't support CO, on the low or high end. Also isn't it a feature of the Ryzen 5000 series... Love this board but what a weak answer; not going to enable a tool/feature of the 5000 series?!

That being said I would be very surprised if EVGA didn't add this...

I paid a lot for this motherboard, here in my country (Brazil) everything is more expensive, I imported and I still have to pay a high tax. Still, I have news like this! Extremely disappointing if eVGA does not update BIOS with PBO2 and Curve Optimizer support. I'm going to have to sell this board as soon as it gets here.

If Lee says they are adding it, which he did say above, I'd be inclined to believe him. He just didn't indicate when. Also, the people who you call don't always know as much of the future plans as the (EVGA) folks who post here. That's been my experience anyway.

I have the latest BIOS, which includes PBO2 Curve Optimizer.  The only issue is having time to post it....

When I have time, I'll post the BIOS officially (i.e. download page/new thread; this is an official release version).  Adding PB02/CO is the only release note.

I installed BIOS 1.04 on my X570 FTW without issue, but I don't think PBO2/CO are working properly. I'm familiar with using PBO2/CO on ASUS and MSI mobos. The same settings I normally use on my 5800x are giving me terrible results. Adjusting values only seems to make things worse. Not sure if anyone else is having issues, but I'm waiting for the next update before I use PBO again on my X570 FTW.
I really don't understand how this major feature of 5000 series CPUs was not ready for release on these high end boards this late in the generation. Next gen chips are on the horizon and we don't have a basic feature set for the current gen chips? I'm super disappointed to be honest.

I might have the same thoughts --I lost 1000 points in cinebench r23 by turning on PBO auto briefly over the weekend.  Temps were fine.  Currently don't have time to investigate until later this week.

This is actually the most disappointing motherboard I've ever owned. I've had nothing but problems since I installed this thing. Coming from an ASUS TUF B550 with practically no issues to this board that doesn't even have a working PBO and costs almost 3 times as much is a real kick in the teeth. About to sell this thing and go back to my old board. PBO is NOT working, and in fact, is totally broken. If I enable PBO with no tweaks, my 5800x doesn't go above 3600mhz!!!! WHAT?????? I have an EVGA 240mm CLC on it with 2x Noctua 120mm Chromax fans. Same setup on my old board would at least boost to 4500mhz with PBO enabled with auto settings. Turning PBO off completely gets my CPU to 4300mhz which is clear evidence that PBO does NOT WORK!! If I manually set PBO and CO, I get all kinds of crazy results that make no sense. Please, fix this. I know EVGA is late to the AM4/X570 party, but this is outrageous. How does this board not launch with standard 5000 series features out of the gate, take forever to get the features enabled, AND THEN THEY ARE BORKED??? Come on, EVGA. Fix this. ITS A $500 MOTHERBOARD FFS!!

EVGA had stopped making motherboards for a while, pretty sure if your terms and conds are right you can just refund the product since you are having a lot of issues with it. I know some people have issues with it likewise any product, but your best option is to go thru support on this one mate

They haven't stopped making motherboards. What are you talking about? Besides, what does that have to do with putting out a garbage product? Thanks for the sp.

It's a strange board, it is made for overclocking. Yet unless you find the fit voltage then degradation is a problem for ryzen. 1.3v is likely too high, and PBO will be the same for the majority of boards.

My X570 Dark arrived today. But I confess that I'm afraid to install and get annoyed with most people. Today I have a Crosshair Dark Hero working perfectly via PBO2 and CO. I would very much like to use the X570 Dark, but due to this big problem with PBO/CO, it makes me think carefully. The board is still sealed with me, maybe I'll wait a little longer to see if things improve or I'll sell it soon.

I'd love for it to get fixed, but I'm not waiting weeks or months for something to work the way it should have out of the box. Really tired of ANY company using consumers and FULL RELEASE PRODUCTS as BETA TESTERS. I didn't sign up for a beta test. I'm not blaming you Lee. I understand we all have someone to answer to, but I expect better out of a high end product release from a company that knows how to make mobos. I could maybe expect something like this from a cheap B450 or something like that. Plus, it's not like this board came out yesterday. It's been out for a couple of months now. I own a lot of EVGA products, but this is my first EVGA mobo. It'll def be my last mobo from EVGA if this is an indicator of how they're treated.

CO absolutely works on this board, I don't know what everybody is whining about?
Just because you plug in the same values you ran on your old board doesn't mean it's going to be the same...diff firmware, AGESA, and all together diff board!!!
This board is AMAZING for RAM OC! This is the 4th board I've used my 5600x with, and the ONLY board I've been able to boot 4000 M/Ts with no WHEA
Quit whining and tune your values for new firmware jeez! Copy paste doesn't always work between bios revisions let alone boards

Re: X570 Dark AMD PBO2/Curve Optimizer? 2022/01/16 03:29:16 (permalink)
UnknownDusk
Just wondering, in the current (1.03) bios for the X570 Dark, there is no support for the AMD PBO2 Curve Optimizer - is there any plan to add this feature in a future Bios? Or even negative voltage offsets? This seems like a rather large portion of AMD overclocking to leave out...

The first thing that you should realise is that AMD supplies the actual BIOS called "AGESA" as a binary - so there is not much that EVGA can do.

PBO doesn't really do much in the way of anything except punt in even more voltage than at stock, churn out more heat and degrades your CPU even faster.

If you want to get the most out of your Ryzen 3rd/4th Gen CPU, I have written a guide which I have posted here:
https://forums.evga.com/The-TLDR-version-of-my-definitive-guide-to-properly-configuring-3rd-and-4th-Gen-Ryzen-CPUs-m3515540.aspx

The following are the CineBench scores I have had with my 3950X and 5950X with an AIO and an ambient room temp of 30 degrees Celsius which to this day Buildzoid has not managed to beat. If you follow the guide then you will be configuring optimally - NOT OVERCLOCKING - completely within spec.

Here are the scores (and they are not even the highest ones):

For my 3950X:

For my 5950X:

Just wanted to add to this. I have the FTW motherboard, 5900X with custom water-cooling. Updating to the 1.04V bios and am trying to do the precision boost overdrive with no changes to performance or temps. I am going to checkout that guide posted using ryzen master.

Even though its supplied by AMD there could be some bug in the implementation that is causing the PBO to not seem to have any effect. Looking forward to hear what EVGA can find if they can investigate this.

PBO has never really done anything except punt in more voltage and cause more heat.
