I had two eVGA GTX-980s in SLI; one failed, so I filed an RMA with eVGA. When the replacement video card arrived, it was a GTX-980 Ti Classified. The GTX-980 Ti has a different GPU than my GTX-980 so I cannot use nVidia SLI. A single 980 Ti has inferior performance compared to a GTX 980 2xSLI and it is very insufficient for the display modes I play at (1280x960@240Hz, 1600x1200@180Hz, 2048x1536@140Hz, 2560x1920@120Hz). I need a GPU or GPUs that can max out my monitor's refresh rate and resolution with very good in-game settings. Is it possible to have the functioning GTX-980 Classified swapped for a GTX-980 Ti Classified? I am willing to pay a fee if required. Thanks

EVGA will hook you up if you tell them your situation. I've heard of times when they even traded peoples working GPU to match what was sent with the RMA. So you may be able to send in your other 980 and be able to have SLI 980ti's/

When making an RMA I believe there is a box you can mark/tick that asks if you have SLI. That way EVGA knows you need the same card back or they can make a different arrangement with you.

It is very possible that the customer did select SLI, we will still send back a different model (due to stock limitations on older models) with the knowledge that both cards will need to replaced to match.

EVGA will not send the same card for SLI if they do not have any in RMA stock. I just dealt with this and talked to support today. I bought two 1080 Ti SC Black Edition cards and one fan failed on one of the cards. I sent it in for RMA and the only option they have is to send me a 1080 Ti SC2(at least that's what support told me during our chat today).

Best thing to do would be contact EVGA hopper and make sure they know you use SLI and would like to continue to use SLI. Also as others have said make sure to select the SLI checkbox.

I selected the SLI checkbox. They said they have ZERO 1080 Ti SC Black Editions in RMA stock. I literally chatted with support(Adam B.) for about 45 minutes trying to get the same model sent back, but they wouldn't budge. I was told 1080 Ti SC2 or nothing was the only option. So, now I'm stuck with two cards that will probably work just fine in SLI, but they will absolutely look different which is frustrating.

Just an update. I called customer service and they took care of my issue! They are now going to let me send my second Black Edition in exchange for another SC2. Amazing customer service!

Hey at least you got a working unit sent back, that's all I can ask for. You should see the problems I'm dealing with over on my thread. Good to see they got you worked out though!
