I still have yet to play The Witcher 3 despite being a huge fan of the series (still think OG Witcher is the best game in the series... so far)

I always love seeing a fan of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition! I'm looking forward to my fifth playthrough after reading through the books.

I also have not played The Witcher 3 yet. I'm hoping it is a lot better than The Witcher 2--especially the combat.

I wouldn't waste money on a 3090. I'm going to be building a new system soon, and unless AMD does something mind-blowing to make me switch, I'm going with the 3080 20GB that is expected soon. The extra 4GB of the 3090 will be worthless for games, and it will only be ~10 - 15% faster, absolute max. It just  doesn't make sense. The 3080 20GB leaves more money for another upgrade in <= 2years.

Haha, glad I'm not the only one that likes it. Actually want to start up another playthrough now that I'm thinking about it. I understand your point and argument for not getting a 3090, but I also will be using it for rendering so it's not just for gaming ;)

I've played all three Witcher games. The Witcher: Enhanced Edition had an interesting take combat that worked rather well, IMO. The game seemed to make you think about what you were doing.

Witcher 2's combat was kind of a pain; thankfully, Witcher 3 does a much better job.

That's really good to hear. TW2 was overall just an incredible disappointment for me, but the combat in particular was a farce.

In any game, the core gameplay--whether it's based on skill or problem-solving--has to be at least passable for the game itself to be good. Take BioShock: The combat isn't why I think the game is amazing. But unlike other artistic, ambitious games in which combat isn't the main point, the combat of BioShock doesn't detract from the experience. It does a competent job of keeping you on your toes and occupied as you proceed through Rapture.

Especially for a more traditional RPG, TW:EE did a good job of making monster slaying interesting, challenging, and rewarding.

Very excited for this. Recently started playing it on the Switch but waiting to build a PC to experience there instead.

Totally worth playing. One of the best games I have ever played and the two addon packs really don't feel like thrown on contentment but rather part of the original game. In fact I wondered into one the addon areas and finished it before the main game.

So, do you think that is the best way to experience the expansions? (No spoilers, please! )
