Is a Super series guaranteed with every gen? I was late to the show with my 2080 Super, I bought one around the time people were talking about the 3080. Does the super usually come last in the lineup?

Why not? NVIDIA loves introducing something new for 50% more money which is 5% faster.

I don't think they have 5% to play with. The gap between the 3080 and 3080TI isn't even that big.

It’s not always but this generation they launched a Ti model 8 months into the generation. Since typically a generation last about two years we could see a Super model since otherwise we are going 16 months without any refresh of the lineup. My guess is if we see a Super it would just replace the current models of both the 30XX and the 30XX Ti cards and just have faster memory and not really anything major changed.

If there is a 3080 super it will have to differentiate itself based on VRAM size or power efficiency or something because there is no room here for performance. The 3080 to the 3080 Ti to the 3090 is separated by like 4-7% per upgrade. Maybe a 3080 Super could have 16GB of GDDR6 (non-X) and a TDP of 250-275? I mean what else can you do to make any sense when there is so little difference in gaming there?

As sad as it is there will probably be a 3080 super. No clue how much ram or performance it will have considering how small the gap between the 3080 and 3080 ti is, but if it is closer to the 3080 ti and costs like 900$ or something maybe it wouldn't be that bad of a deal, but honestly does it matter? There will barely be any to go around anyway and the more they spread their silicon across multiple models as opposed to less, the lower the chance of anyone getting any of these cards.

I dont think so as there is a 3080ti. The performance between the cards will be pretty minimal if they do though

Probably, why not? 20 GB GDDR6X, 72 SM is good enough to call it a 3080 Super. Also "Super" was a new thing that came out with the 20-series and 16-series, so there isn't much track record to say if there will always be Super models or not.

There was a leak on "videocardz" that leaked the specks of an upcoming laptop, and it had a 3080 Super graphics card, with 16GB of memory. Let me see if I can find it again....

Sure - it'll also cost $999 and up! In all seriousness, Nvidia will likely release Supers and never produce the $699 3080 again.

Found it: https://videocardz.com/ne...3070-super-laptop-gpusThe leak is from Lenovo and the 3080 Super is shown with 16GB of regular GDDR6, not the ''X" version that's used for the 3080, 3080 ti and 3090. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but Nvidia likes to milk their customers dry with nearly identical "new" products.

I mean hopefully it sounds like a great idea and they also incorporated that in the 2070 and 80 models

I'd be all over a 3080ti with 16GB of GDDR6X. That would be the perfect card for me.

A 3060 SUPER, will fill the gap of the 3060 series, priced around 300-400 is reasonable. Thats most likely the next step... If you look at the gap between the 60 and 60Ti its a BIG one and a SUPER will fit in perfectly.

The 2080 super was based on TU104, so same GPU die as the 2070 series. Following this logic a 3080 Super would be based on the 3070 series GPU, the GA104, whereas the regular 3080 is based on GA102 GPU. GA104 = 3060 ti / 3070. Improved GA104 = "3080 Super". So no they wont release a 3080 Super based on improved GA104 because improved GA104 just got released today, and it's called 3070 ti In other words, 3070 ti = 3080 super QED
