Anyone else have a motherboard whose slot was too thin to accept the wifi mounting bracket on x299 micro? Also, anyone else have a motherboard with no screws that fit to secure the IO cover?

Hi ahallert1 and welcome to the EVGA forums! I have the X299 Micro myself and did not have any issues mounting the wifi card with its included bracket and as for the I/O cover, that is secured on the motherboard on the mounting hole closest to the audio in/out with the same screws used in the other mounting points on the motherboard.

Perhaps you can send images so we can see how you have the wifi and the bracket installed.

Thanks for your reply. I managed to get the wifi bracket in with some "modifications". I wonder if the brackets for x299 and x299 micro are different or maybe I am just trying it wrong but because the io cover is installed now I can't really send a pic. The problem was the bottom most piece of the bracket that shoud slide through the motherboard would not go in. The hole was too small on the motherboard. But once "installed" I mounted the motherboard and the only screw that would not reach the stand offs was the one that needed to pass through to io cover. Pic attached.

That screw should have just enough length to accommodate the I/O cover plus the motherboard. There could be a few things preventing the screw from making contact with the stand-off underneath such as the motherboard not being mounted properly, an issue with the motherboard tray, or perhaps a stripped stand-off?

I thought the same thing. I replaced the stand off, remounted the Mobo multitple times and still no luck. I guess it may be the tray but everything looks normal.

does the screw go in fine without the I/O cover?

Yes it does. Fits just like the other screws.

I was thinking it may also have to do with the installation of the I/O shield which may be slightly  shifting the I/O cover.

Not likely, but if you think the installation of the IO shield could affect it that much it makes me believe it is the installation of the wifi bracket. It doesn't fit right, never did. The hole in the Mobo was not big enough for the bottom of the bracket to pass through so it may be misaligned. In which case where do I get a new slimmer bracket or a Mobo with a wider hole?

If it's not the I/O shield then perhaps the I/O cover may be warped. Can you attach images showing how you have that wifi card and the bracket mounted?

Thank you for the help. It ended up being the wifi bracket. It was slightly off due to it not fitting the motherboard correctly and it was pressing against the IO cover.
