For all the obvious reasons, I haven't upgraded since Maxwell architecture, and my 970 struggles on 2k gaming on certain titles.
Looking back, I should have upgraded to the 20 series long time ago. I believe the current situation is unprecedented.
I will get my hands on a 30 series graphic cards at a reasonable price sooner or later.

I have to take my work laptop home if I want to game. It's an Alienware with a 10700K and a 2070.
I'm waiting until the end of the year before I build again. With what Intel and AMD are supposed to be releasing, it doesn't make sense to build now. AMD is moving on to a new socket and Intel is working on big/little cores. Although the 10850K for $299.99 looks really nice.

because my rtx 2080 ti xc ultra is off bstock and has 57 days left on 1 year warranty but it is still kicking butt and i dont overclock and have no temp problems. should have kept my 2060 ko for back up.

I have an RX 6900 XT right now, but if I had the cash I'd buy the RTX 3090 FTW Ultra as that card is the best available (except for the Kingpin version).

My GTX 970 can only churn through so much unoptimized alpha bloat of Star Citizen before it chokes on cities. If a new GPU can do Star Citizen at 60FPS in space and 30+ on planets in 1080-1440p, I know I can comfortably play everything else new on high settings, and I'm happy.
I'm holding out for almost any newer midrange card at MSRP- a fool's journey, some would say. I refuse to cave in to those disgustingly high prices set by resellers.
