If you have any other drives connected to the PC running Windows 10 and they have sensitive and private data on them, you should also physically remove them. It can and will read and write data to those drives even when disabled in the MB Bios,. I noticed this back in February when running the preview.

Just a thought - it's not for indexing / Cortana is it?
I wonder if they got their hooks in when I reserved the upgrade (since canceled, never installed).

you do know you can reduce the spacing between those right works very similar to a as windows 8.1  here it is on my PC not a Tablet but i enabled Tablet mode   just hold and drag the columns of tiles  together and such at the top  mind you i dont got many things for Apps Modern Apps anyways just the defaults  currently 

I noticed a couple of things on your desktop.. questions:
(1) if you disable Cortana, does that Cortana tile disappear, or are you stuck with it regardless?
(2) I noticed the 'Get Office' tile.. are you stuck with that tile until you buy office?

Going back to 8.1 failed about 50% into the process.  Now I get a message that the system needs repair...to insert installation media.  Oh Joy...stuck with 10

Thanks. Enabled hidden files - it's not there. That's good.
Guess I'm stuck with that Windows icon in the tray forever though, unless I remove it via registry - or until I do a fresh W7 install, which I do every 6 months or so.

im already looking into dual system cases (caselabs??) will have one pc Win7ult for most stuff
and one pc for just Win10pro/DX12/gaming only, only connections will be case/and water / gonna keep that gaming pig on a leash!

I usually dont upgrade right away. I will wait before changing to windows 10. Never did upgrade to windows 8. still on 7.

you can take all of that  off uninstall the get office all the tiles can be taken off

By the way...the process of clean install using the media you create...DOES NOT WORK!  No drivers for the tablet.  Touchscreen doesn't work, wireless...even after I installed the Win 8.1 drivers.  So I have to "hopefully" recover Win 8.1 again and hope it works

Attempting a system restore of an EaseUS backup.  I backed up 8.1 before upgrading.  Never used this software before, but only one that worked with Venue Pro 11, because of 32 bit UEFI and OS.  If this doesn't work...hopefully recovery media I created for 8.1 will.

The clean install of 10 installed NOTHING that made the tablet work.  No touchscreen, no internet, nothing.  Luckily I have an external Keyboard that has a touchpad or I would be dead in the water.  All of this because I just "had" to try out Windows 10.  Figured if one machine I had could go down and I wouldn't miss...it would be this one.  Just never thought it would be this much of a mess.

Total system reset.  Tablets are a bit pain.  Setting up a desktop is a piece of cake compared to this

I realize that the upgrade to Windows 10 is free.  If you choose to use it...make sure to download Speccy from Piniform.  It will give you your Windows 10 key, so you can actually do a clean install....

Wow...interesting.  Setting up Win 8.1 from scratch and ALL the security settings that everyone is upset about with Windows 10 are in 8.1.  Hmmm!
