The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Game series (Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat) is my most favorite, I could play it for hours upon hours with all the different mods available for it.

Easily TimeSplitters! It's the same dev team that did n64 goldeneye. Sure, my friends and i loved goldeneye, but it was SLOW with four player splitscreen and the controls weren't spot on. So when 60fps insanespeed flawless control madness (to this day the fastest console FPS ever) was released - after having gotten used to what is now _the_ standard console FPS controls (dual stick), we rocked this baby from a couch and an armchair for god knows how many hours!  source:gamespot.com It's the most fun i've ever had with an FPS ever and i suspect that will remain true for all time to come, except for maybe when my own kids beat me some day in a Cyberden deathmatch!

 my favorite FPS of all time was Halo C.E. one the Xbox. me and my friends play online with people from around the world usind a mod on Gamespy Arcade were you could tunnel your enet connection usin a usb cord or a router. it wasnt just the game that owned ass but how much fun i had with my friends staying up late and having fun on the XBOX that made the game that much better. (also Perfect Dark on the N-SixtyFour was great too)

Not an easy question to answer.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein was a great single player FPS.
Soldier of Fortune Double Helix was great too.
Crysis is spectacular.
Call of Duty is addictive.
I guess MY all time favorite is RTCW.

Love Doom, however Unreal (the original) gave me the best "wow" factor. I remember buying a 3dfx Voodoo 2 accelerator which did amazing things for that game.

Battle field 2142 was super fun for me when it first came out, i cannot count how many hours i have played that game, not to mention, that Crysis is a close second.

But I did like Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. It was a cool FPS with added 3rd person lightsaber action for it's time.
 
+1 billion. For FPS SP games, JK2 is the greatest imo. For FPS MP games, Jedi Academy is the best you will ever play.

HL1+2, COD4, Crysis, COD6 and Doom 3. I played D3 when I was like 12, gave me my first and only nightmare. But to be fair I was completely alone, in the dark, with the speakers turned up. Haven't played a scary game since. :)
