Hey guys damon here.... I have spent the last couple days digging around the web doing research on finding the best HDTV money can buy for gaming, it can be plasma, LED whatever .... I mainly go console gaming just for the record.

These are what I mainly want from the HDTV
- MUST MUST MUST have almost next to nothing INPUT LAG (eg. 16ms and under)
- MUST be around 55- 65 inches
- and of course good PQ .
-Maybe 3D, it isn't an issue

I currently own the Samung UN55D8000 and it is horrible for playing anything in first person, EVEN with GAME MODE on...
With Game Mode on the delay is still quite a major problem, the link below is the model that I own
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN55D8000-55-Inch-1080p-Silver/dp/B004N866SU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1351267924&sr=8-1&keywords=D8000

and I also own an ASUS 24inch monitor which I have to say is the best thing I have ever experienced for playing such FPS etc.... I can control it so much easier, I can have 100% accuracy...Believe me I dont want to enjoy such classic games as the upcoming halo 4 on a 24inch monitor... -__-

So recommend me a list of TVs and also if u can an accurate figure as to what the listed tv can produce in terms of input / response time... that would make my life easier... Im open to all suggestions, and all comments would greatly be of help...

thanking you in advance for your time and effort to aid me... =)

What's your budget?  Although I've never used it, I would go for Sony Bravia.  The highest end version has an RGB LED backlight, opposed to the usual "white LED" backlight.  Picture quality is said to be a league ahead of typical TVs, as it should be.

Although the specs don't indicate response time, reviews say that it's pretty good for demanding games.

Do some research and even purchase screens yourself and do some test.

Personally I purchased a Panasonic TC-P50G25 TV about two years ago for gaming.  I don't play games on it anymore at all but plasmas fit your bill.
Also generally in the past Panasonic LCD HDTVs enjoyed low input lag (don't know now since they switched to LED LCD and how they're doing).

Nice budget, I'm prob thinking about 1000 under, specially with black friday around the corner. I also loved the Sony Bravia too, had no issues with that back in my parents house in Cali, prob 3 years too n satisfied. Browse and watch some of those tv's, change the settings to your liking too n make sure its not all amped up by the store or other people.

I was gonna say LED but they still have quite a bit of input lag since most HDTV's of the LCD variety are designed for viewing TV/Movies rather than playing games. Plasmas really dont have much input lag and they still have a great picture. Picture burn in isnt as big of a problem as it used to be.

Yea.. I was gonna look for plasma but endless reading, its a conflict, Iduno what to think. As sapphire stated n few others say plasmas have come a long way and picture burn isn't as bad as what it used to be. So I'm still torn. I'm prob leaning on LED side now but I wana make sure its near the blackest of the blacks for movie watching as everyone claims to love and these tv's are above 5.0+ standard energy rating and lighter in weight. I just hope I wont have an issue playing the 360 or ps3 on it.

Its image retention you'll have to worry about and you still can get image burn in.

As for you AzN if you want BLACK I doubt any LED LCDs will give you inky blacks.

At issue with HDTVs are signal processors and input lag. Look specifically for a panel that has a gaming mode that turns off signal processing.

With that budget you should be able to get a 55-65 inch LED Back-lit with internet and paper thin design.

I have a 42" Sony Bravia and its great as a PC monitor.

Just bought a Theater 3D Vizio also 42" and is surprisingly good as well considering its 1000 dollars less than the Sony Bravia. The Sony TV is about 3-4 years old now tho. The Vizio is brand new.

Re:Whats the perfect HDTV for Gaming ? 2012/10/27 07:04:43 (permalink)
Well there are discussion boards on the subject and so far I have to agree with them. Unfortunately, the response time listed for HDTV's doesnt include the processing time to enhance the image. Gaming mode wont help you but turning down (or off) any kind of picture enhancements will lead to less input lag, but of course this will also reduce picture quality. Some brands are better than others (which I can also agree with from personal experience) Panasonic plasmas have the lowest, LG's LCD/LED's have the highest. A few i've owned/tested... not the newest models I know.

Sony KDL-46EX700 (80-100ms in PC mode) -My current TV
    Samsung LN40B750 (30-50ms)
    LG 32LD450 (120-150ms)
    LG 42" plasma (60-80ms)
    Panasonic TC-L32U3 (40-50ms)
Westinghouse 32" LCD (200-230ms) -not kidding lol

Obviously the best choice would be a CRT monitor or a tube TV but you give a lot for the sake of response time. LCD/LED monitor would be the next best choice. Best way to make sure the TV will have low input lag is to buy it from a place that will accept open box returns with no restocking fee and test the TV yourself. If its not good enough return it and try again. I know you can do this with Best Buy.

I went through this a few years ago but more for gaming with it as a monitor not for consoles. Plasmas had the least input lag back then and Im sure it still stands that way. Picture quality is great and burn-ins arent a worry for anyone anymore unless they plan on leaving their console paused for a few days. I beleive the only downfall other than heat/energy is that its a plasma, and that over the years they do lose their color pop.
